The Last Goodbye: My Escape from a Toxic Marriage Episode 59

Seraphina’s POV

My heart pounded like a drum, the panic rising in waves.

Was Cadenreally going to kill the Carnival project? He couldn’t.

“You can’t do that! We signed a contract! The project has nothing to do with what’s happening between us personally!” I cried into the phone, gripping it so tightly that my knuckles turned white.

His voice was calm but cold, each word cutting like a blade. “I’m the CEO of Haynes Enterprise. Business is personal to me. Now, tell me where you are.”

“I know Haynes Enterprise has plenty of great projects, but this one is different! I have faith in it—”

“Where are you? Now!” he thundered, his voice sharp and commanding.

My breath hitched. Why did he want to know where I was? Was he going to send soldiers after me? Tear up the project contract right in front of my face? That wasn’t like him… but what if?

Without another word, I hung up.

My hands shook as I pulled out the SIM card and tossed it into the trash, my heart racing like it was trying to burst out of my chest.

Shit. What have I done?

I’d just hung up on Asher. No one did that. Ever.

“Well done, Seraphina. You just pissed off the most powerful man in the world,” Elin muttered sarcastically in my head.

“Shut up, Elin,” I whispered weakly, my voice trembling.

I found a quiet corner to ditch the stolen uniform and badge, then bought a hoodie and cap with cash. Pulling them on, I left the airport, doing my best to stay out of sight.

The streets of Emerald Howl Pack used to feel so familiar—quiet, peaceful, and blanketed in snow. A place of serenity, where the most excitement came from tourists visiting for the skiing season.

But this time, it felt like a different world entirely.

Chaos in the Streets

Before the bus even reached the city center, we were forced to stop. The streets were flooded with angry protesters, their voices rising like thunder.

And then I saw it: my name.

Scrawled across signs, my face crossed out in angry red paint.

“Punish Seraphina! Traitor! Murderer!” someone screamed.

“An eye for an eye!”

“Justice for Alpha Sid!”

“We demand war!”

The shouts surrounded me, each one like a slap to the face. These people believed the lies. They thought I’d betrayed Sid, their beloved Alpha.

I felt my chest tighten.

Who had poisoned their minds? Who had planted these lies?

Sid would have stopped this. So would Eason. But they were nowhere to be seen.

Forced off the bus by the mob, I found myself stranded. I stayed on the outskirts, blending into the crowd as best I could. The tension in the air was suffocating.

Suddenly, the crowd surged, a new chant rippling through the air.

“Luna! Luna Holly is coming!”

Luna Holly

I was swept along with the crowd, pushed toward the roadside as a sleek Rolls-Royce rolled by. The back window lowered slightly, and a woman waved gracefully to the cheering masses.

I froze.

She was stunning, with a face that seemed familiar but out of place here.

And then it clicked.

Althea.

No, not Althea—but someone like her. Her sister, Holly.

I’d seen her face before during my research on Althea. Althea had over thirty siblings, but Holly stood out for her beauty and charm.

Sid’s new Luna was Althea’s sister.

“FUCK!” I blurted out, shocked and furious.

The people around me gave me strange looks, but I didn’t care.

Althea had already destroyed my marriage, and now her sister was here, turning my home into chaos.

This can’t be a coincidence.

“What the hell are they up to?” I muttered through gritted teeth, fury burning in my chest.

First, Althea ruined my life. Now Holly was destroying my home.

The Webbers weren’t just a family—they were a plague.

And I was done being their victim.
