Chapter 0047 – Seraphina’s POV
I leaned back in my seat, exhausted. “Let it go, Elin. I don’t have time for Luciance right now. As long as my project goes well, that’s all I need.”
“Liar!” my wolf huffed indignantly.
I closed my eyes and ignored her.

After five more hours on the road, we finally arrived at Obsidian Crest Pack just before sunset.
The last time I had been to this wealthiest pack in the world was a year ago, for a business summit. Back then, no one paid attention to someone like me—a nobody. I had wandered the venue with a stack of business cards, trying to make connections, but by the end of the day, most of the cards were still in my hand.
Now, I was back.
But this time, I wasn’t alone.
Our car didn’t go into the city. Instead, we drove to a massive white estate nestled in the countryside. The mansion, perched halfway up a hill, was a stunning sight, luxurious beyond imagination. It offered breathtaking views of the sunset and the city lights below.
As soon as I stepped out of the car, a high-pitched scream pierced the air.
A small figure came racing toward me at full speed and practically launched herself into my arms, squealing, “Oh my God, Seraphina! You really came!”
“Fiona!” I grinned, genuinely happy. “I missed you, girl!”
We hugged tightly, laughing like we were back in college. From the corner of my eye, I saw Helena roll her eyes, but I couldn’t have cared less.
“You finally did something right, Caden—getting Seraphina out of that hellhole!” Fiona declared, still holding my hand. “Seraphina, you can’t go back there. You have to promise me you’ll never see that cheating jerk again! Just stay here with me forever!”
“I can’t afford the rent here,” I joked.
Fiona scoffed. “No one’s going to charge you rent! Tell her, Caden! Tell her she can stay as long as she wants!”
Caden’s gaze locked onto mine, his lips curling into a meaningful smile. “As long as you want,” he said softly, “like it’s your own home.”
My heart skipped a beat.
If I signed his contract, this place really would be my home.
The weight of his words hit me, and I quickly looked away, avoiding his gaze.
“I opened some good wine,” Fiona announced, clearly oblivious to my inner turmoil. “Tonight, we’re getting drunk and then throwing ourselves into the pool naked—just like in college!” She turned to Caden with a mischievous grin. “And you’re joining us!”
Caden chuckled lowly, while my face turned beet red.
Oh my God, Fiona Hawthorne, what are you saying?!
“Sorry, no can do,” Helena interjected coldly. “We have a meeting tonight. Some of us actually have to work.”
Fiona rolled her eyes dramatically and muttered something under her breath.
“There is a meeting,” Caden confirmed. He leaned in to kiss Fiona’s cheek and then turned to me.
I flinched, worried he’d kiss me like he had last time.
His eyes sparkled with amusement as he seemed to read my thoughts. Instead, he took my hand and kissed the back of it politely, his lips warm against my skin.
“Have fun, ladies,” he said in a low voice. “Fiona, take good care of Seraphina for me.”
Then he and Helena got back into the car and drove off. He probably really was busy.

“So…”
Fiona nudged me with her elbow, waggling her eyebrows mischievously.
I couldn’t help but laugh. “What?”
“What the hell was going on between you and Caden?!” she practically shouted. “The way he looks at you? ‘Take care of Seraphina for me’? That hand kiss?! Oh my God, I could cut the sexual tension with a knife!”
My face flushed as I tried to stay calm. “Don’t be ridiculous.”
“Seraphina Laurent!” she shrieked, loud enough to turn heads. Even the guards and servants paused to look at us. “If you don’t tell me the truth, I’m calling Caden right now and asking him to get his butt back here to explain! So hurry up—SPILL IT!”
