The Last Goodbye: My Escape from a Toxic Marriage Episode 11

Episode 11

Seraphina’s POV

I stared at Damon, my heart pounding as humiliation and fury surged through me like a tidal wave.

“Are you even serious right now?” My voice trembled with anger as my body shook uncontrollably. “Do you realize how deeply insulting this is?”

His frustration was evident as he rubbed his temples, avoiding my piercing gaze. “I know it’s not ideal,” he began, his tone maddeningly calm. “But Althea is the daughter of Silverclaw Pack’s Alpha and Lucian’s birth mother. And you, Seraphina…” His voice hardened, “You come from an unimpressive family, and you haven’t given me a child in all these years.”

The words struck like daggers, cutting through me with brutal precision. Pain and rage churned inside me as I clenched my fists.

How dare he blame me for being childless? He and his mistress had murdered my baby!

“And why do you care about titles or status anyway?” Damon continued, his tone shifting to something almost tender. “What matters is our bond—our feelings. You were stunning at the party last night. Didn’t you notice? Every man there was staring at you. You’re still mine, Seraphina. Give me another chance. Please.”

Elin, my wolf, roared with indignation, her anger mirroring my own. My entire body trembled, the weight of humiliation pressing down on me.

“No,” I replied through gritted teeth, my voice as cold as ice. “This isn’t about feelings. It’s about my pride—my dignity. And I won’t let you or Althea trample all over me.”

Damon’s expression darkened instantly. His frustration boiled over into impatience. “Don’t be a child, Seraphina,” he snapped. “If you leave me, you’ll be damaged goods. No respectable man will want you. At best, you’ll end up as a Gamma’s or Beta’s mistress in some insignificant pack.”

Elin’s voice echoed fiercely in my mind. “Tell him Alpha Caden offered to make you his Luna! He’s a hundred times the man Damon will ever be!”

I took a steadying breath, suppressing the urge to throw Caden’s name in Damon’s face. “There’s no need,” I murmured inwardly. “I won’t drag Caden into this mess.”

Turning my focus back to Damon, I squared my shoulders and met his gaze with unwavering resolve. “I rejected you, Damon. It’s over between us. Let’s finalize the divorce as soon as possible.”

For a moment, Damon appeared stunned. My firm rejection seemed to catch him off guard, and his face flushed with embarrassment. His jaw tightened as anger replaced his surprise.

“FINE!” he snarled, his voice rising. “But don’t come crawling back to me when you regret this!”

Without hesitation, I turned on my heel and walked away, my steps firm and resolute.

Regret it?
Never.

After breakfast, I returned to my office. Immersing myself in work helped distract from the emotional chaos of the morning. The Carnival City project demanded my full attention, and despite the upheaval, the work brought me a renewed sense of purpose.

Today felt different. The energy coursing through me was empowering because for the first time, I wasn’t working for Crimson Hollow Pack. The money and success I earned from this project would be mine—and mine alone.

But another pressing matter loomed over me. It was time to reach out to Emerald Howl Pack. I needed their support, and that meant contacting my brother, Eason.

The thought of calling him filled me with trepidation. Eason had vehemently opposed my marriage to Damon, and when I left Emerald Howl Pack, he had sent me off with 2,000 soldiers, 30 million, and a chilling parting remark: “Never come back.”

Would he even consider helping me now?

After a long moment of hesitation, I decided to send him a text message instead. I carefully composed my words, explaining the immense potential of the Carnival City project and emphasizing how it could bring much-needed economic growth to Emerald Howl Pack. I asked him to discuss it with Alpha Sid and, if possible, arrange a meeting with Alpha Caden.

Once satisfied with the message, I hit send and leaned back in my chair, exhaling deeply. This was the first time I had reached out to Eason in four years. Now, all I could do was hope he was willing to talk to me.

Around six in the evening, I packed up my things and left the office. The long day had drained me, and I craved nothing more than the comfort of my bed.

But when I arrived at my room, two unexpected figures stood waiting outside the door.

Caden leaned against the wall, arms crossed, his face etched with irritation and a cold, calculating intensity. Standing before him, wide-eyed and nervous, was Lucian.

“What are you two doing here?” I asked, my voice tinged with surprise.

Lucian’s head whipped around, his small face lighting up at the sight of me. “MOM!” he exclaimed, his voice breaking with emotion.

I froze in place, my heart skipping a beat. Mom? This was the first time Lucian had ever called me that.

Before I could react, he ran to me, throwing his tiny arms around my waist. Tears streamed down his face as he clung to me tightly. “Mom, I made a mistake,” he sobbed, his voice cracking with guilt and desperation. “Please… please forgive me.”
