Sera looked into his eyes, seeing only her reflection. Their relationship

solidified; Liam became more caring and affectionate.

Finally, Sera agreed to visit Liam’s family in the US. The trip was kept

private; only their close friends and family knew.

Sera was protected well so she had no idea Jax was waiting outside the house,

drenched in the rain. Jax overheard Damon tell the butler that Serenity was

coming back and he wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to see her again.

He waited until dark, the rain pouring down, but she didn’t come.

Inside, Liam and Sera were entangled, their two hearts beating as one. After

sex, Liam carried Sera to the bathroom.

Later, she slept in his arms. Liam kissed her, then quietly left the room. The

butler met him downstairs.

“He’s still out there, sir.”

He wanted to escape but couldn’t. He just watched the lights flicker on and

off in that room. It suddenly occurred to him that Serenity had been through the

same thing. He had finally understood her pain. No one could be generous 

enough to watch their loved ones sleep with someone else.

He pleaded, “Can I…see her?” 

Liam punched him. “You don’t deserve that!”

The rain soaked Jax, leaving him immobile. Liam tossed a towel at Jax’s feet

and said to the butler, “Call his family.”

Liam left. The door slammed shut. Thunder roared; lightning illuminated

Jax’s pale face as he collapsed.
