Elsewhere, a woman sobbed, begging the man to be gentle, but the man
above her showed no mercy. Finally, Jax grunted, and Rylee’s hand fell limp. He
chuckled, kissing her again.
“So delicate.”
Rylee whimpered, tracing his chest with her kiss–marked hand. “Hum, you‘
re marrying someone even more delicate.”
His eyes darkened. He kissed her. “As I said, I’ll give you anything but I won’t
acknowledge you.” He caressed her belly.“Even if I marry someone else, I’ll still
love you and the baby.”
Rylee smiled seductively, wrapping her legs around him.“Then love me one
more time.”
Jax held her hand above her head, bang her again. Their moans intermingled.
Finally, Jax got out of the bed and got dressed. He looked at Rylee, kissed her
lightly, and left quietly.
He got into the car to the wedding venue, and then turned on his phone. He
had expected a barrage of messages and calls from Serenity, and had prepared
excuses. His phone, however, was silent. He tried calling Serenity, but got no
answer.

His heart pounded. Perhaps she was resting. He put away his phone, looking
out the window. In the distance, an ambulance and the police cars were gathered
near the foot of a cliff. His heart skipped a beat and then he looked
away.
The wedding venue was decked out with Serenity’s favorite blue roses and
orchids. A pianist was playing her favorite music. Guests and media awaited.
Everything was perfect, everyone was waiting for the bride.
The clock ticked, but the door remained closed. Guests whispered. Jax grew
increasingly anxious. When he was about to call Serenity again, the door burst
open. A white–draped coffin was carried in. He froze. A group of people in
black carried the coffin toward him.
He shouted, “Who are you? Get out!”
The lead guy bowed.“Mr. Landry, I’m really sorry, but your bride killed
herself.”
Jax grabbed the guy’s collar. “What are you talking about?!” He threw him off,
approaching the coffin. When he saw the face of the body, he
collapsed. “Se…Serenity?”
The man in black walked up and said, “Ms. Hayes committed suicide by
jumping off a cliff yesterday because of severe depression. We found her body
this morning. Please sign the death certificate.”
Jax couldn’t accept that. He stared at the body with disbelief. That wasn’t

Serenity. His Serenity had cherished herself since she was a child. This woman,
however, was bruised and covered in blood.
He flung open the coffin, trying to prove this wasn’t Serenity. But it was. He
tried to take her hand, but he couldn’t.
“Serenity, stop playing that. This isn’t funny.” His voice cracked. The body
remained motionless.
The man gave him Serenity’s phone. “It’s the only item found at the scene.
You can check this out.”
Jax took the phone and saw countless explicit photos and messages from
Rylee! His face drained of color. Serenity had already known everything! But
since when?
He scrolled and then finally saw the first message. It was a month ago.“Your
fiancée is in my bed.”
The last one was yesterday, also from Rylee. [Even though you’re getting
married, I can make him come to me with just one call. Give up on him,
Serenitye.]
Serenity replied: Fine. As you wish.
He gasped, clutching his chest and screaming.

Jax checked it carefully. Every time Serenity had a suicide attempt, he was
with Rylee. It was not that he didn’t notice anything, but his heart was filled with
another woman. Even when she needed him, he wasn’t there. He held the report,
tears falling onto the cold floor. He sobbed.
