“Till death do we part) Chapter 10

Serenity recovered, but she looked even weaker than before. She
spent
the
whole day curled up in a recliner, wrapped in a thick blanket, staring out of the
window. Her eyes were lifeless.
Jax was visibly worried and frantic. She hadn’t eaten anything since waking
up, no matter how he begged her. He tried different broths, but none of them
worked. Jax was desperate. The wedding was tomorrow, and she was listless.
He knelt beside her, pleading.“Serenity, please eat something. I know you’re
not hungry, but you need to eat. I was terrified when you had a fever. If anything
else happens…”
Her eyes flickered with a hint of mockery. A tear rolled down her cheek. He
wiped it away gently.
“Serenity, what happened? Tell me. You’re not alone.”
He reached for her, but she moved away. Finally, she looked at him and
spoke in a very distant tone.“Jax, take me to the mountains to watch the sunrise.”
Jax was surprised.“Baby, I thought you were afraid of heights since the
accident.”
Serenity said quietly, “I insist.” After all, her plan involved the cliff.

He said nothing, telling the butler to get the car ready. On the drive, he held
her hand. She didn’t pull away. He talked about their past and sweet memories.
Their childhood, first dance, her late–night cross–country flight to see him…..
He even remembered things she had forgotten.
“I fell in love first, but it was you who flew all the way to see me. When I saw
you at the airport, I swore I’d never let you suffer again.” He looked into her eyes.”
Serenity, I’ll always love you.”
She smiled, but the smile was not sincere at all. He was so good at lying that
he could even fool himself.
They sat atop the mountain, waiting for sunrise. Jax’s phone buzzed
repeatedly. He ignored it, but the calls persisted. He saw the caller ID and went
away to answer it. Then, his expression changed. At this time, Serenity received
a text from Rylee: Even though you’re getting married, I can make him come to
me with just one call. Give up on him, Serenity.
For the first time, Serenity replied: Fine. As you wish.
Jax hung up, rushing toward her. “I’m sorry, baby. There is an emergency at
the company…”
“Serenity, do you remember what you said at our engagement?”
His heart pounded.

“I said I’d forgive you for falling in love with someone else but I wouldn’t
forgive you for lying to me. If you did, I’d leave.”
She seemed to be smiling, but that smile made Jax uneasy. He clenched his
phone, his knuckles white.“Serenity, I love you, I wouldn’t lie to you.”
Her love vanished completely.“Go ahead. Don’t you have work?”
He hesitated. He was afraid to leave, but that call was really tempting.
Serenity was here, what could happen? They were getting married tomorrow.
“Serenity, go home after sunrise. I’ll see you at the wedding.”
He left. She watched him go as if he were a stranger.
Ten minutes later, a car stopped at the foot of the hill.
A man stepped forward and said, “Miss Serenity, all your information has
been deleted. I’ve got you a new identity card, a new phone and a plane ticket.
From now on, no one in the world will be able to find you.”
Serenity took all the things he gave her and gave him her phone.
“Send the body directly to the wedding tomorrow, and give the groom this
phone.”
She wanted Jax to know how Rylee had provoked her over and over again

these days. She wanted him to know that he had lost her completely when he lied
and left her for another woman. She wanted him to know that this day was their
last day together.
For the rest of his life, he would grieve for this.
After that, Serenity got into an unlicensed car.
“To the airport.”
The darkness was at last coming to an end.
