Serenity fell ill after the storm, running a high fever. At the mansion, Jax
“She’s been burning up for three days! Why hasn’t it gone down!”
The doctors mumbled, offering no answers. The air in the room was thick
with tension. Jax dismissed everyone, then sat by Serenity’s bedside. Holding her
hand, he said with red eyes, “Serenity, please…get better…”
But she remained pale and still. Another night passed. Finally, Serenity’s
fever broke, but she was too weak to speak. Then, a loud crash came from the
door. It was Jax’s voice.

“I told you to stay away from her!” His voice was low but Serenity still heard
Rylee’s sweet voice rang out. “But the baby wants to see its father! And I
brought you a surprise!”
The sounds of clothes rustling and heavy breathing followed.
“Why are you dressed like that?”
Rylee giggled, her voice soft.“Don’t you like it?”

Serenity buried herself under the covers, and then the door opened.
“It’s so cold outside. Let’s do it inside, okay?”

She stared at the reflection in the window- two entwined figures on the
sofa near her bed. The rain intensified; the cold seeped in through the slightly
open window, chilling her to the bone.
