Serenity covered her mouth, unable to put up with it. She fled. After a while,

she collapsed on the stairs, gasping for air, tears pouring down her face. Meeting

Rylee at the auction was bad, but this was worse.

Jax used to be so innocent that holding her hand made him blush. He would

even shake badly after a kiss with her. And they didn’t have sex until she agreed to

his proposal.

One time she joked about his self–control, and he just held her in his arms,

his voice hoarse.“Baby, there is no man who doesn’t want to get laid. But I love

you so much that I won’t make you mine until everything is settled.”

His tenderness had filled her heart with warmth, but reality slapped her hard.

She covered her face, sobbing. Her phone vibrated. It was another post–sex

picture from Rylee. She saw the messed–up backseat and shredded silk

stockings.

“This car is filled with the scent of sex. Oh, Jax promised me your ring. Now,

True Love is mine.”

Serenity shut off her phone.

When she got out of the restroom, she saw Jax standing there,

empty–handed. He hugged her, the faint scent of perfume filling the air. Before

she could push him away, he apologized.

“Serenity, that ring had a flaw. I’ll get you a better one, okay?”

She took a deep breath.“What if I want that one?”

Jax saw her tear–stained face, his heart constricting.“Baby, don’t cry. It

doesn’t deserve you. I’ll buy you a new one.”

She smiled sadly. He used to give her everything; now, he refused her for

another woman. She lost not just his body, but his heart.

He tried to explain, but she pushed him away.

“Forget it. I don’t want it.”

He wanted to follow, but saw Rylee walking by with that ring on her finger.

His face paled. Before he could say anything, Serenity walked past Rylee, as if she

didn’t see her.

After Serenity was gone, Jax grabbed Rylee’s hand. Are you insane? I told

you to stay away from Serenity! She’s my limit!”

Rylee smiled. “Sorry, but she didn’t notice, right? I won’t do it again.” She

undid two buttons of her shirt.“To apologize, I’ll make up to you tonight. Big

surprise.”

Jax swallowed, his eyes darkening.

That night, Jax didn’t come home. He said it was work but Serenity knew he

was lying. She didn’t confront him. She had decided to fake her own death and

destroy all traces of her in this world. She would leave Jax forever and leave him

nothing but a fake corpse.
