Deciding to say goodbye to my

friends, I sent a massage in the group chat: Let’s meet. I need to tell you something.
Suzie, my closest friend, replied first.”
There’s a reunion next week. How about then?”
“I’m in!”
“Me too!”
Everyone agreed.
At the reunion, they asked me what I
was about to tell them.
“Rosie, you’re leaving? And you’re
marrying someone else?”
“Rosie, you’re breaking up with
Grant? Does Grant know that?”

The door opened, and Grant entered, asking,“Know what?”
Everyone looked at each other. Suzie laughed, diverting attention.
“Who got Grant in? Did you draw a
card?”
Seeing Grant’s confusion, she
explained that Feng was studying fortune
telling. Feng appeared with
cards.“Everyone draws one!”
I drew a card, and Grant reluctantly
joined me. Suzie urged, “Let’s see what
they say!”
My card read: Desire leads to
disappointment; detachment leads to
fulfillment.
I stared at it, finding it true.
Grant drew his card, and then his expression changed.
It said, “Lose the love of your life.”
Someone saw it and then put it back
to Feng.“Feng, your fortune telling is off. Everyone knows how much Rosie loves
Grant. He’ll never lose her.”
My friends all looked awkward. Why wouldn’t he lose me? I was leaving him to
marry another man.
They didn’t know the truth and
questioned about the card.
Suddenly, Grant’s phone rang. He
answered.
His expression changed and looked at
me.“Rosie, let’s go to the hospital!”
