However, Summer was no longer the person she
once was.
Summer was wearing a custom–made school uniform for elite schools, complete with a shining school badge.
The horrible makeup Rose always smeared on her face was gone. Her long hair was draped across her shoulders in soft waves, and she only wore a pearl hair clip near her left ear.
Summer had always had good looks, and she was stunning even without makeup. In the past, her original radiance was simply shrouded by her meekness, along with the terrible makeup and messy hair.
The car pulled up in front of the academic building. Getting out of the car, Robin respectfully opened the car door for Summer.
As soon as Summer got out of the car, the passersby seemed to have frozen in time. They all turned their attention to Summer.
“Ms. Hartford, I’m always available. If you need any help, feel free to call me.” Robin handed Summer her school bag.

“Okay.” Smiling, Summer nodded. “Thank you, Mr. Cohen.”
Robin nodded a little. Then, ignoring everyone’s gazes, Summer walked leisurely toward her classroom.
Someone spoke up, “Is that Summer Hartford?”
Another person replied, “I think so. Who else in our school would wear a school uniform to class? It has
to be her.”
Someone else wondered aloud, “What happened to her? Has she always been this pretty?”
Several young ladies, who were all decked out in luxury brands, seemed quite annoyed.
They had also attended Summer’s birthday party two days ago. They were shocked by Summer’s beauty then, but they were so used to bullying Summer that they decided to dismiss her entirely.
But now, when they saw the male students around them staring at Summer in awe, they felt extremely pissed.
“How could she come to class after that filthy incident in her home? Does she know no shame?”
one of the female students said loudly.
Her words instantly pulled everyone back to reality.

Someone said, “Oh, yeah! That incident with Rose is still all over the Internet! What is Summer thinking? Why is she back in school already?”
“This won’t do!” Annie Sutton was the leader of the rich young ladies. Her family ran a huge business, and she was Summer’s biggest bully. She was, in a way, the boss of the group.
“Her cousin is still in dire straits, but she dressed herself up as if it were none of her business. She’s
even putting herself on display at school, of all places!” Annie sneered. “This won’t do. As the representatives of this sacred place, we have to teach her a lesson!”
“You’re absolutely right, Annie!” The other young ladies cackled in agreement.
The students around them looked like they wanted to stick around and watch, too.
Annie and the young ladies strode after Summer
into the classroom. The other students followed
suit, eager to catch more of the drama.
When Summer entered the classroom, she immediately spotted the pile of trash on her desk.
The students in the classroom had wry smiles on their faces when they saw Summer. They weren’t exactly to blame, though. People at school often followed the majority, after all.

When almost everyone was bullying a person, others might join in the act, even though they might be reluctant at first. If they had to choose between being the bully and the victim, it would be quite an easy choice to make.
Summer walked over to her desk, her face void of
emotion.
Just then, Annie had just arrived at the classroom. ‘ Hey, Ms. Hartford!”
Summer turned to look at her. “Were you the ones who put these things on my desk?”
