“School?” Rose was shocked.
Anthony, who had been chatting with Henry, was also taken aback.
“Yes. She didn’t want to take lessons at home, so I let her go,” Henry explained.
Rose’s face turned pale, while the private tutors exchanged awkward glances.
“Um, Mr. Hartford Senior, we’ve finished our breakfast. We should go prepare the teaching materials for the lessons,” one of the tutors said.
“Of course. If you need anything, just ask the maids,
Henry replied kindly.

Then, the tutors, including Anthony, got up and left the dining room.
“Rose, Summer probably didn’t want to worry you. She has her reasons for doing this,” Henry said gently.
“I know. It’s just… I don’t understand why she didn’t tell me…” Rose fell silent, her lips pressed in a thin line.
Damn it! Why on earth would Summer choose to go to school instead of attending private lessons at

home in the middle of all this turmoil? Was Summer out of her mind? If she wasn’t going to stay home for lessons, then what was the point of bringing Anthony here?
“She didn’t want you to worry,” Kristen chimed in, not realizing that Summer hadn’t told Rose about her decision. Was it because she forgot? Or did she think Rose would stop her?
Kristen felt a weight in her heart. In the past couple of days, Summer had suddenly become so unpredictable.
“Don’t worry. Robin is with Summer,” Kristen added when she noticed Rose’s increasingly troubled expression. She gently took Rose’s hand, offering comfort. “Summer wants to be brave for you, so you need to stay strong, too. You’ll get through this.”
“Okay…” Rose nodded with her eyes downcast.
What a load of nonsense! Summer wasn’t that type of person. There had to be something wrong here. It was as if Summer always knew what she was planning and managed to avoid it every single time!
When Rose returned to her room, her phone was flooded with missed calls, all from Anthony. Her frustration mounted, and she had no intention of returning his call.

However, Anthony showed up using the excuse of coming to discuss the lessons.
After closing the door behind him, Anthony immediately demanded, “What’s going on? Weren’t we supposed to have Summer stay here and start her lessons with you?”
“Why are you shouting at me? How am I supposed to know what’s gotten into her?” Rose snapped.
Anthony suppressed his anger and pressed on, “So, what now? What do we do?”
Rose sneered coldly, her eyes gleaming with malice.
“I know Summer well. She fears getting ridiculed and bullied the most. Let’s wait and see. She won’t last a day at that school. By the afternoon, she’ll be crying and begging to come home.”
Thanks to Rose’s efforts, the once–proud little princess Summer had grown increasingly insecure since entering adolescence. The haughty girls at school paid no attention to her, and playing pranks and bullying her had become routine.
Most of those girls came from families beneath the Hartford family. Their parents, who were often deferential to Henry and the Hartfords, saw bullying the future heir of the Hartford family as a thrilling, satisfying way to assert their power.

With Rose secretly fueling the fire, Summer’s school days had become a constant struggle. To spare Henry and her parents from worrying, Summer mostly swallowed her grievances.
This was one of the reasons, years later, when Summer and Anthony were together, she could be so easily manipulated into conflicts with Henry.
