Chapter 18
Chapter 18
Rose couldn’t believe her eyes.
Weren’t Summer and Kristen always at odds? When did they become so affectionate?
Noticing how Kristen was gazing at Summer with such tenderness, Rose felt her heart burn with jealousy.
No! She couldn’t let them make up! Kristen’s attention should only be on her!
This was something Rose felt she was owed. She clenched her fists tightly and then retreated into her room with a stormy expression.
Convincing Henry went far more smoothly than expected.
Initially, he had strongly opposed it, much like Kristen. But after hearing Summer’s reasoning, he pondered for a long time and eventually agreed.
Rose, however, was still unaware of this decision. She spent the entire night brainstorming ways to create opportunities for Summer to fall in love with Anthony as soon as possible.
As for Anthony, he had been conflicted about

whether he should continue with his involvement before arriving at Hartford Manor. He had even considered telling Henry about Rose’s scheme when he saw him, hoping that might allow him to extricate himself from the situation.
But once he arrived at the manor, his perspective completely changed.
Anthony’s family was well–off, with a home and cars that most ordinary people would envy. Yet, compared to this luxurious estate, those things seemed insignificant.
The priceless paintings he’d always dreamed of were casually hung along the hallways, and he realized that his family couldn’t compare.
Anthony had always known that Henry spoiled Summer beyond measure. For instance, when she was still learning to walk, she already had an impressive collection of diamonds and jewels.
During the day, he had noticed a jeweler carefully packing away the rare diamond crowns that had been showcased for guests the previous day. The crowns belonged to Summer.
The combined value of those crowns far exceeded the lifetime achievements of his parents‘ small company, which they struggled their entire lives to build.

At that very moment, Anthony felt as though he’d been struck by a sudden clarity.
He no longer resented Rose. In fact, he felt grateful
to her for introducing him to the real world of the affluent. And as for Summer, he was now determined to win her over.
The next morning, the dining room was unusually lively.
Though Henry was still an influential tycoon, he was never arrogant and always treated others with kindness. So, he had invited the private tutors to join him and his family for breakfast.
“I heard you studied biology?” Henry asked Anthony. He knew a bit about Anthony’s
background. For someone his age, his achievements were indeed impressive.
“Biology and software engineering,” Anthony
answered, aware of the importance of winning
Henry’s favor. Getting Summer was one thing, but earning Henry’s approval was just as critical.
“Hartford Group has interests in both fields. Once you graduate, you should consider joining our company,” Henry said.

industry. It would be an honor to join the company, “Anthony quickly replied.
Meanwhile, Rose seemed distracted. She was wondering why Summer had not come down for breakfast yet. This was the perfect opportunity for her to see how impressive Anthony was.
“Where’s Summer? Isn’t she up yet? Should I send her breakfast upstairs?” Rose asked softly.
“Ms. Sanderson, Ms. Hartford woke up early. She ate breakfast and left for school. She’s probably already there by now,” Phoebe answered while pouring milk for Rose.
