Chapter 17
“We have plenty of rooms. If the tutors are willing, of course they can stay,” Kristen replied.
As in the previous life, all four private tutors agreed to stay. Rose’s mood visibly brightened.
After chatting with the tutors for a while, Kristen called Summer to step outside.
“Mom, is something wrong?” Summer asked.
Kristen was still not fully accustomed to Summer calling her “Mom” so casually. She cleared her throat and asked, “Do you not like Anthony?”
“Why do you ask?”
“You’re always rude to me, but not to others,” Kristen replied as she glanced at Summer. “If you don’t like him, just say so. I can make an excuse to keep him from coming.”
Summer shook her head. “No need. Rose trusts
them. Haven’t you noticed? Her mood’s a lot better than it was this morning. Right now, there’s
nothing more important than making her happy.”
“Then, they will only teach her. I’ll find other
tutors for you,” Kristen said.
“No need.” Summer smiled, shaking her head.

Actually, I was about to talk to you and Grandpa about it. I don’t want to take lessons at home. I want to go to school.”
“That’s out of the question!” Kristen immediately objected. She uttered sternly, “Summer, don’t be impulsive. How can you go to school in this situation?”
Summer looked Kristen in the eye and stated firmly, “Mom, Rose is the victim, and victims are blameless. As her family, we have no reason to hide.
Now that Anthony was going to stay at the manor, Summer couldn’t tell what sort of trouble Rose might cause next. Besides, the manor was isolated. Going out was inconvenient, interfering with her plans.
“Summer, it’s not as simple as you think!” Kristen said sullenly.
“I know!” Summer looked determined. “Mom, I know what I’m doing. Our family has never backed down from anything. We don’t need to hide just because of a small problem!”
Kristen paused momentarily.
Summer had always been hesitant and fearful, and that was one of the reasons Kristen had never liked her. However, unknowingly, Summer had somehow

seemed… so much stronger.
Be it the resolution in Summer’s eyes or the hope that she could be fearless, Kristen couldn’t bring herself to stop Summer, despite knowing the possible difficulties awaiting the latter at school.
“Try to convince Grandpa, then.”
“Don’t worry. I’m great at convincing Grandpa!” Summer said.confidently, wrapped her arm around Kristen’s, and nuzzled her cheek against Kristen’s shoulder. “Thanks, Mom.”
Although Kristen’s heart fluttered, her expression remained composed. She chided, “You’re an adult now. Stop acting spoiled and stand up straight…”
“Okay…” Summer pouted but obediently stood straight.
She knew the importance of moderation and couldn’t rush things between her and Kristen. There was a lifetime ahead, so she’d take it one step
at a time.
Meanwhile, Rose was in a particularly good mood as she’d successfully arranged for Anthony to stay with the Hartford family.
When she headed out for a walk, she happened to see Summer and Kristen standing closely together.
She froze in place.
