Chapter 16
The manor was adorned romantically inside and out for Summer’s birthday. She stepped onto the soft carpet, her expression blank as she walked toward Rose’s room.
Fragments of false memories she once shared with Anthony flitted through her mind.
It had been a long time since she last saw him. Ever since that wedding night when he tricked her into signing the stock transfer agreement, the three years of inhumane torment that followed had blurred even his face in her memory.
Now, as Summer was about to see Anthony again, she thought she might feel something. After all, she had truly loved him once.
Yet, hatred had devoured every trace of that deluded
affection.
At this moment, her only thought was to drag Anthony into the depths of hell and make him
suffer a thousandfold for the agony he had inflicted upon her.
When Summer arrived, the maid respectfully
opened the door to Rose’s room.,
Inside were three women and one man, along with
Kristen and Rose.

Rose greeted her with a smile, “Summer, there you are. Let me introduce you to our new tutors.”
The group stood up and greeted Summer in turn.
“Nice to meet everyone,” Summer replied politely.
The man standing furthest to the side was slender, scholarly, and wore glasses. He appeared mild- mannered and unassuming.
Unassuming.
Summer sneered inwardly. What a ridiculous word to describe Anthony!
Rose eagerly took Summer’s hand and introduced the tutors one by one. Besides Anthony, the other three were indeed well–known educators.
“And you might’ve heard of Anthony,” Rose quipped. She had been subtly mentioning Anthony to Summer over the past few days, trying to plant subconscious hints in her mind.
Summer glanced at Anthony and then shook her head lightly. “I don’t know him. Is he famous?”
Anthony’s refined smile froze for a moment.
Though he came from a modest background, his academic excellence and numerous prestigious awards had earned him considerable recognition.

“I’ve told you about him! He won first place in the national physics competition,” Rose whispered. ” You even said he was amazing!”
“Did I?” Summer blinked, feigning confusion as she looked at Rose. “I don’t remember.”
Both Rose and Anthony were rendered speechless.
“Don’t be rude!” Kristen scolded in a low voice.
Summer maintained an innocent, bewildered facade, but inside, she was laughing in mockery.
Having dated Anthony for three years, she knew him all too well. He thrived on praise and flattery. If someone belittled him or embarrassed him, it hurt him more than anything else.
Anthony said with a small chuckle. “It’s fine. I just need to work harder so Ms. Hartford will recognize me someday.”
How smooth–tongued.
Summer held back an eye roll.
What had she been thinking back then? Anthony’s face was average at best, and his behavior was unbearably cringe. What exactly had she seen in him?
To think she had ruined her and her family’s lives

for him… What a waste!
“Aunt Kristen, there are reporters all over outside the manor. It might be inconvenient for the tutors to come and go every day. Could they stay here for a while?” Rose suddenly suggested.
