Chapter 8: Claire’s POV

Leonardo rushed to my side, place his arm around my shoulder and looked at Jordan in an assertive manner. I watch as he says “Allow me to introduce myself, I’m Leonardo Park and I am Claire’s husband” in a serious tone.

Jordan slowly dropped his hand from my other shoulder.

“Nice to meet you. I’m Jordan Taylor, owner and president of JT Constructs and Company.”

Was he mentioning his company in an effort to establish some sort of masculinity?

“I believe I’ve heard of your company. We are in the same business after all.” Leo smile coyly.

“That’s interesting. Where do you work?” Jordan seems casual as if he hadn’t noticed what my husband was doing.

“Oh, I thought I mentioned it. I’m the president of Barters to Builds Co.”

Jordan seemed taken aback to hear that my

husband was the president for Barters to Build Co. it is the largest ship trading group in the country, and real estate construction is one of the many successful sub–businesses within its‘ corporation.

Once Leo caught a glimpse of Jordan’s reaction, he seemed to relax. As if seniority in business meant superiority in character. He acted as though he had scored yet another victory. He moved his hand from my shoulder and attempted to hold my waist

instead.

I was taken aback after all that had happened today. I stepped away from his hand which he stiffly shoved into his pocket instead.

His possessive and aggressive demeanor was childish and I wasn’t enjoying it.

“I really hope to work on a few projects with you in the future.” Jordan returned to normal, not paying mind to Leo’s antics. “Claire, if you ever need help, please don’t hesitate to give me a call.”

He gave me a warm smile. The kind I remembered throughout the years.

“Thank you for being here, Jordan.” I didn’t have the opportunity to thank him properly but I wanted him to know how appreciative I was.

I watch as he gives a nod and leaves.

“Haven’t you seen enough of him? Or did you want to escort him out too?”

“Don’t be rude. Jordan is of no business with you.” I argued for Jordan.

I hear a groan escape Leo. He was not amused at my defending Jordan. He quickly changed to a look of worry or concern.

“Why did you come to the hospital? Are you hurt or ill?”

“No.” I hesitated but decided to keep this visit about our child a secret for now. He is the father and he deserves to know, but I think sorting thoughts should come first. It’s only fair that I consider our marriage before I consider our child in

this case.

“I was just visiting and friend and Jordan just happened to be passing by. He offered to give me a ride.” A believable lie being my best friend Jasmine did not live far from Leo’s family home where he hosted Charlotte’s news.
