Chapter 40: Francisco’s POV
Chapter 40: Francisco’s POV
I had heard the news of Charlotte’s father while out of the country and decided there was no better a time to return for her than now.
The truth is that I was in the Mafia. I worked hard for the ranking I’m at and after one harmless poker night we ran, I found Charlotte. A woman of renowned, who simply liked risks. I felt enamored by her reckless and followed her home. She was more than accepting of my advances – but only on her terms.
Charlotte seemed innocent until you looked at the little things. She was faking a disability to help her dad’s business and to keep close to her little billionaire. I had witnessed her scheme, plot and harm. Not that any of that bothered me, I have done far worse.
I had no interest in pursuing her long–term, the sex was good. But her persona being filled with hatred and greed were addicting. So much so, that I tried to get her to leave the thought of “Leo the Billionaire” behind. She refused. The first time a woman ever refused my advances. This time would be different.
I learned where I had failed. Charlotte couldn’t give up on the idea of this man after so many years of dedication. It was her fixation at this point but I could change his mind into letting her go.
I called her and invited to coffee. I want to see what she has planned to win him back and hopefully, there’s room for me to destroy that connection for her without ever laying a hand on him. Making him disappear would be obvious and she’d resent me. Marriage was of no contention after I heard what she had done to his. But there was room for me to stir a little bit of animosity into this battle. Animosity I could hopefully aim at her without it effecting her lifeline.
I arrive at her favorite cafe and following the waitress to a table. I then order her favorite drink and get a black coffee as I wait. I could see Charlotte as he walked through the entrance. She looks just as I remember. Her walk is filled with of purpose and power – same as before. She smiles as she sees me.
“It’s been a long time.” She says as I hold her chair out for her.
“Long time indeed” I reply as I sit down across from her. “How are things?”
“Well I’m working on trying to find an attorney to represent my father but that’s proven more difficult and I’m working on getting Leo back to me. I thought it’d happen sooner but his wife is proving to be a pain in my ass.” She says through gritted teeth as she stirs her drink.

Chapter 40: Francisco’s POV
“I see you’re walking freely now. No longer bound by a false disability.” Charlotte told me her plan before I left and I watched as it was executed. The lengths she had gone for this man – only to end up in the same place she was when I left several years ago.
“A miracle, isn’t it? I hear her laugh as I take a sip of my drink.
“I hope you missed me.” I look up as I say it, watching her reaction.
“More than you know.” Her smile was sinister and I knew where this was going.
