Chapter 31: Claire’s POV
I leave Jordan’s office, head to my desk and collect my things along with my blueprints and tablet holding all my documents and leave the office.
I hear my phone ringing and decide to ignore it. I knew it was Jordan. He would need the signed and finalized blueprints that I had taken with me. But seeing as it was my work, I felt no shame in taking them.
I hail a cab and give them Jasmine’s address. Once inside, I take my phone from my bag and see Jordan has not only called but texted me.
Jordan: Claire, don’t be so rash. You know me better than anyone and you know how I feel about you. We can still work together and see each other. Call me back.
I lost all interest in being with Jordan in that moment. He was intent on using me and wanted me to himself. Maybe there was a reason Leo didn’t like him from the first moment they met. He could see something that I wasn’t privy to.
I decide to text Leo and tell him that he was right and turn off my phone once I arrive at Jasmine’s house.
“Hey, what are you doing home so early?” She says with a smile as she closes her fabric catalogue.
“I had to leave my job.” I say looking down at all the blueprints in my hands. Thankfully Jasmine equipped me with a safe for all my important documents in my bedroom. I place them inside before returning to the living room.
“Why did you quit? I thought it was a great opportunity.” She looked concerned.
“Jordan isn’t who he said he is. He’s been swindling contracts and he wanted me to allow him to use my blueprints and designs to restore his company financially. Leo warned me and I didn’t listen. Jas, I trusted him and it’s only a matter of time until he uses my 3D models to forge blueprints in my name. It’ll ruin me.” Jas stands there in shock and runs to hug me. She knew I needed it.
Just as she reached me in embrace, we both hear a knock at the door. She opens her phone to check the camera and looks worried as she turns it to me slowly for me to see.
It wasn’t Jordan thankfully. But it was Leo. I could tell he was concerned with the way he shifted his weight from one foot to the other as his hands were tucked into his pockets..
“Should I let him in? I won’t, if you’re not okay with it.” Jasmine says as she watches the
camera.
“He can come in. I think he’s the only one who I can trust when it comes to this situation.”
“Okay. I’ll be just upstairs if you need me.” Jasmine gives my hands a squeeze and heads to the door. She says hello to Leo and grabs her catalogue to head upstairs without another word.
