Chapter 29: Charlotte’s POV
I thought that once Claire lost the baby, Leo would be over that peasant and running back to my side. It seemed only right for him to be with a
with great renowned who is also adored by his family but he’s still sulking over his divorce and that usefulness woman.
I had my “surgery” today and I’ll be back to my former self soon but Leo seemed uninterested in the thought. I witnesses how he contacted Claire to warn her about Jordan. Too bad my involvement with Jordan would be fruitless and too obvious. His devotion to Claire was far too high. Much like Leo’s is at this moment, I planned another way to get to Claire and drive her attention further away from my Leo.
I pull out my phone and contact a soft spot that is sure to hurt Claire.
“Hello?”
“Matthew, how are you dear?” I say in a false cheerfulness.
“I’m doing great. Thanks for helping me out. What’s up?” I should’ve put him in prison but Leo agreed to have Claire move back in and I could try that now and still proclaim my innocence.
“Well I have a few medications that have been giving me some side effects. Would you mind trying them to see if they do the same to you? I need to know if I’ll get sick.” This plan was far more simple. Matthew would come to “help” me. I would have him take my pain killers, become addicted to drugs and his need to fill his addiction would lead him to Claire or kill him which would devastate her entirely. And this would be easy considering Matthew already has an addictive personality.
“Well I don’t think that’s such a good idea, Charlotte. To tell you the truth, I’ve been doing better. It was embarrassing – having to take your ring to pay for my poor choices and gambling so I got myself a job.” Shit. How is this going to help me?
“Really? That’s fantastic!” Fantastically bad–timing for me, actually.
“Yup. I’m now a mechanic and the money isn’t bad. The best part is I’ve met someone. She’s sweet, funny and she really loves me. Having your sympathy and kindness really made me reflect on who I want to be in life.”
“I’m happy for you, Matthew.” Another lie on my part.
“Thanks, Charlotte. Take care of yourself.”
“You as well.”
He hangs up without another word and I realize there is no planning or plotting that can executed in this moment. I would have to work harder to get Leo back. At least, I could still watch Leo closely from the comfort of his home.
“Leo?”

Chapter 29: Charlotte’s POV
I hear someone descend the stairs, hoping Leo would be in better hopes and want to spend time with me.
“Mr. Leo said he is busy in his study. Can I help you with anything?”
“No, I want Leo.” I hated the housekeeper. The help shouldn’t become friends with their employers wife. She also shouldn’t stand in the way of Leo and I but he continues confiding in Elena and sharing his pursuits to win Claire back
It was sickening.
