Chapter 22: Claire’s POV
I woke up in our bed, only it wasn’t mine anymore. I knew Leo had already left with Charlotte so I leave to my bedroom to take a shower and ready for my day. I text Jasmine to see if she was home as I make my way to the kitchen to find something to eat.
“Ms. Claire, Leo left a note for you. I can make you something to eat if you’d like. I know growing baby must be a lot on you.” I freeze as I hear what Leo’s housekeeper had said. How did she find out? Does Leo know? She hands me the note with a soft smile
and waits for my response.
“How did you know, Elena?”
“I do all the cleaning. I saw the test in the nightstand for a few days. I cleaned and put it back just like you had it. I didn’t tell a soul.”
“Did you tell Leo?” I needed to know.
“Never. It’s not my news to tell but I want you to know that I am happy for you.” She smiles as she grabs a few ingredients from the fridge and prepares me an omelette with orange juice. Elena was always nice to me. She was one of the only people who accepted me and treated me like a human being in Leo’s life.

“My lips are sealed. But Ms. Claire, you must be careful with Charlotte. She is not kind.” Elena has
been Leo’s housekeeper long before I was in the picture and if she said something was wrong – it was always true.
“I know. I’m staying safe though. No need to
worry.‘
“Good. Here is your breakfast. I’ll get back to dusting now and clean the kitchen once I’m done.”
“Thank you, Elena.” I watch as she leaves to
continue her work. She never ceased to make me
feel at home. Even if this isn’t really my home
anymore.
I read the note Leo left for me.
“Claire, I’ve left with Charlotte to accompany her to her doctor’s appointment. I left my driver along with the town car for you to use at your discretion. I will back later tonight. I hope you’ll be home.
Yours truly, Leo.”
I walk to the foyer and see the town car waiting in the driveway and decide to visit Jasmine and tell her about all that’s happened lately. I let Elena know that I’ll be leaving for a bit and grab my bag. I had to get out of this house for a bit.

I find my way to the town car and get inside. The privacy glass is already up between the back and the driver. I ask for him to take me to Millenia Manor and give him Jasmine’s address and we pull away from the house.
