Chapter 5
As Antonio flipped through the old evidence, his face grew darker.
I woke up again, my body weakened to the extreme. “Oh, honey, you finally woke up!”
I turned my head to find Antonio standing by the bed, .. face filled with joy.
He eagerly reached out to hug me, but then he hesitated and cautiously took my hand instead. I immediately pulled away.
“What’s wrong? Disappointed to see I’m still alive? Want to vent for Kimberly, huh?” My tone was cold.
Antonio’s face stiffened, his eyes filled with deep apology.
“Honey, don’t be so cold toward me. I know you’re angry. You can scold me if you want. Are you hungry? Thirsty? Do you feel unwell?”
To be honest, just seeing him made me feel unwell. He stood up to pour me some water.
I frowned in disgust. “Stop pretending, Antonio. Let’s get a divorce.”
Antonio’s hand trembled as he poured the hot water. He even burned his hand.
He rushed over, eyes reddened. “No, honey, we’re not getting a

divorce!”
“I know you can’t have children anymore now, but don’t worry, I won’t leave you because of that. I’m a doctor. Trust me, I can cure you!”
“Yes, you’re a doctor, so you should know that my injury was never supposed to be this severe.”
I turned to look at him, and Antonio’s face instantly turned pale.
He was desperately trying to find a way to make things right when Kimberly suddenly burst in. She complained in a spoiled
tone.
“Antonio, what are you still doing here? Didn’t we agree that you’d buy me some jewelry to make up for it? Let’s go.”
When Antonio ignored her, she held her arm and started to act cute. Her “injury” was already healed.
“Antonio, my hand still hurts. You have to buy me a big diamond ring today, or I won’t forgive you!”
Antonio gritted his teeth. “Kimberly, how dare you come here?”
“The cops told me the person behind the medical dispute wasn’t hired but was indeed after you. You made a mistake in the surgery and thus got his wife killed. That knife was supposed to go into you!”
“Kimberly, he’s the family member of your patient. You must have seen him!”
“Why did you lie to me and make me misunderstand Grace?”

Kimberly paused, blinking her eyes innocently.
“How was I supposed to know that? Besides, I was badly injured
too! You didn’t care about me when I came to you, and you
scolded me. I won’t talk to you anymore!”
With that, she walked over to my bedside. Looking at my deflated belly, she revealed a smile of victory.
“Oh, Grace, you really are injured. Why didn’t you tell me? I was wronged! You owe me a big one!”
Antonio shot her a cold look and raised his hand, slapping her hard in the face.
“You bitch, get out! You’re making things worse for my wife!”
Kimberly couldn’t believe it. “Antonio, you slapped me for her?”
“I won’t talk to you anymore!”
With a stomp of her foot, Kimberly covered her face and ran off, looking aggrieved.
Antonio turned to look at me with a pleading face. Just as he was about to say something, I interrupted.
“Kimberly may have lied, but don’t forget one thing. Without your help, that knife wouldn’t have ended up in my belly.”
The proud Antonio seemed at a loss for words.
“Honey, don’t act like this, I’m scared:”
“I was misled by that bitch. I didn’t mean to hurt you. Let me make it up to you, okay?”
I found that ridiculous.
He had tried to make it up for Kimberly, and now it was my turn. Yet unlike Kimberly, I didn’t need it.
