Emyr slightly lifted his chin, a rare hint of leniency in his demeanor. “You’re the one who suggested that.”
Charmaine eagerly nodded, letting out a deep, relieved breath.
She had narrowly escaped disaster.
After the morning lecture, as Charmaine exited the classroom, someone she didn’t exactly want to see quickly fell in step behind her.
With a neutral expression, Charmaine spun on her heel and began walking away.
“Charmaine!”
Daniel matched her pace, his voice sharp and demanding, “What’s going on between you and Emyr?”
His questioning tone almost made Charmaine laugh.
She slowed her pace, and before long, Daniel had caught up and was blocking her path.
His gaze immediately locked onto the cut on her lips, and the look on his face was priceless.
“Did you two—‘
“Daniel, whatever my relationship with Emyr is, or what happened last night, it’s none of your business.”
She spoke coolly, making it clear, “Leave me alone.”
Charmaine stepped around him and tried to continue walking, but Daniel refused to back off.
“Are you after money or something? I can offer you more than Emyr ever could. You can stay with him, or you can come to me. No matter how much he’s offering you, I’ll pay you more!”
Before he could say more, Charmaine slapped him hard.
The sound of it echoed through the courtyard.
“Whoa, Charmaine just slapped Daniel! Is she crazy?”
Daniel tasted blood in his mouth, glaring at Charmaine, who met his gaze with icy contempt.
“Daniel, the thought of me thinking of you as a friend before makes me sick.”
Charmaine meant every word.
“I never wanted to be your friend, Charmaine. I’ve always wanted something more.” Daniel clenched his fists. “I never saw you as just a friend!”
Before Charmaine could respond, Milo suddenly emerged from behind, grabbing Daniel by the collar and landing a punch to his face.

Chapter 99 Other Sister
“Are you even a man, Daniel? You’re dating my sister and won’t leave my other sister alone?”
Charmaine froze, confused.

Who is this guy calling his sister?
Leah had always been a standout, with a charming boyfriend and a few overprotective older brothers who treated her like royalty. Milo was a frequent presence at their gatherings, and everyone knew him.
The students around them buzzed with excitement, pulling out their phones to take pictures.
“Wait, did Milo just hit Daniel?”
“Is he saying that Daniel’s dating Leah but still trying to get with Charmaine?”
“Ha, Daniel doesn’t need to chase Charmaine. I bet it’s Charmaine chasing him…
“Hold on, why did Milo say his ‘other sister?‘ Does that mean Charmaine’s his sister too?”
“Obviously–Milo’s into Charmaine too and probably wants her for himself…”
Daniel spat out blood, trembling with fury, and stood to face Milo.
He sneered, his voice full of mockery, “Milo, what does Charmaine have to do with you?”
Milo didn’t hesitate for a second. “What do you mean? She’s my—”
“You’re right, Milo. My business is none of your concern, just like it’s none of Daniel’s,” Charmaine cut in, tired of the back–and–forth.
Without saying another word, she turned and walked away.
Daniel, as stubborn as ever, tried to follow, but Milo grabbed him by the shoulder and stopped him.
With a low, serious tone, Milo leaned in, speaking just loud enough for Daniel to hear, “No matter what, Leah’s a Nelson, and Charmaine’s got Nelson blood too. Let me make it clear: If you hurt Leah, our whole family will make sure you regret it.”
Milo shoved Daniel aside and quickly ran to catch up with Charmaine.
“Charmaine, wait up!”
Milo jogged a few steps and then fell into pace beside her. “Wow, you walk so fast.”
Charmaine barely glanced at him. “What’s wrong? If a dog’s chasing you, don’t you have to run faster to avoid being bitten?”
“Dog? What dog?”
Milo paused, then finally understood her meaning. “Oh, so now you’re calling me a dog?”
Charmaine gave him a sympathetic look. “Has Jonah never helped you find your brain?”
