Emyr showed no sympathy at all. Without hesitation, he held her hand down, preventing any movement.
It seemed like something had caught his attention. He turned her hand over, closely examining her palm.
The roughness was unmistakable–evidence of hard labor and time spent working.
Charmaine tried to pull away, but Emyr noticed the reddened skin on the back of her hand. His eyes narrowed slightly as he pinned her down again.
Powerless to move, Charmaine leaned forward, her voice curious, “What are you looking at?”
Emyr pressed down lightly on the back of her hand, causing her to gasp, “Ow!”
He released her hand only to begin massaging the tender area with his fingers.
His voice remained cold as he spoke, “You should’ve stayed at the villa. What made you leave and wander around?”
Charmaine, slightly pouting, replied in a soft tone, “Someone asked me to treat them. That’s why I came out
“And that’s exactly why I told you to stay out of other people’s business. What would you have done if you hadn’t run into Keon?”
Her lips stuck out, her face tinged with a faint flush. She felt like clay in his hands–soft, yielding, and easily molded.
Emyr didn’t hesitate to tease her, pinching and squeezing wherever he could.
This woman, who often clashed with him, had been a constant source of annoyance.
He’d considered putting an end to her defiance many times, but now … doing away with her seemed too simple.
It was far more interesting to toy with her.
Up front, Tad and the driver exchanged knowing glances through the rearview mirror.
They both knew that only one person could make Emyr behave this way–and that person was Charmaine.
Charmaine winced, struggling against him, but with Emyr holding her in place, she had no chance of escaping.
Frustrated, she suddenly leaned her head back and, in a swift move, bit down on Emyr’s neck.
The driver slammed the brakes, and Tad jumped in surprise, calling out, “Mr. Emyr!”
Emyr hissed, “Keep driving. It’s fine.”
As he spoke, he gave Charmaine a sharp tap on the back of her head, his hand sliding down her hair to rest at the nape of her neck.
He gently massaged the area as he spoke in a low, warning tone, “If you bite me again, I’ll break your neck.”

Charmaine winced in realization, but after a few moments of resistance, she finally
let
go,
She sat up, her dazed gaze falling on the bite mark she had left. A wave of guilt hit her immediately.
“You pinched me first!” she protested.
Emyr ignored her, instead pulling out his phone to examine the mark on his neck.
Seeing what he was doing, Charmaine quickly leaned in again.
This time, rather than biting, she softly placed her lips on the bruise she had caused.
She blew lightly, her lips brushing his skin, sending a tingle through his body. His entire frame shuddered, and his voice became rougher, “Charmaine, what are you doing?”
“I’m sorry. Please don’t kill me,” she muttered, still pressing her lips to his skin. “I’m just blowing on it. My grandma used to tell me that blowing on an injury would make it feel better.”
As she kept blowing, Emyr’s body went rigid.
Her sweet fragrance lingered in the air, and the warmth of her body pressed against his. Her proximity, her skin so close to his, unraveled his self–control.
He hated when people crossed his boundaries, but Charmaine kept doing it–over and over. She kept breaking his rules, and now, she was making him feel things he couldn’t control.
Emyr gripped her chin, lifting her face to force her to look him in the eyes.
Her expression, dazed and slightly intoxicated, seemed to invite him. In a low, hoarse voice, he asked, “Charmaine, what is it that you really want from me?”
She tilted her head slightly. “I’m here to treat you.”
“Why?”
“Because I slept with you, and I have to make it up to you.”
Tad and the driver couldn’t hold their laughter any longer. They quickly dropped the partition between the front and back seats, eager to avoid the murderous look Emyr would undoubtedly give them.
The air in the backseat felt thick and heavy…
Emyr felt a heat rising in his chest. Reaching for his collar, he opened it slightly, revealing the edge of his pendant and a tattoo.
Charmaine caught a glimpse before he forced her to look up again.
His large hand seemed to cover her entire face, her delicate features looking tiny in his grasp. He handled her as though she was nothing more than a toy, shifting her effortlessly.
His finger traced her jawline slowly, intentionally.
Before she knew it, their faces were mere inches apart–her lashes brushing against his skin, sending a soft,
ticklish sensation.
Emvr. fully aware of her every movement. felt his breath come in sharp. ragged waves.
