Chapter 78 Proving Her Innocence
“Exactly. If she’s Mr. Emyr’s woman, why would she need to steal Ms. Nelson’s ring?”

“That’s right. Whatever she wants, she could just ask Mr. Emyr for it. Why steal?”
“With Mr. Emyr’s wealth, he could buy her something far more valuable. It makes no sense…”
As the tide of opinions shifted, Leah’s heart began to race.
Seeing Emyr and Charmaine standing together naturally, something felt completely out of her control.
This wasn’t how it was supposed to go!
Taking a deep breath, Leah said, “Mr. Emyr, Celeste isn’t wrong. The ring was found in Charmaine’s pocket. The evidence is clear. You can’t expect us to believe her just because she says so.”
Emyr didn’t even spare Leah a glance. Instead, he turned to Charmaine and asked, “Do you have anything
to say?”
“Leah claimed the ring was missing, and then, not even a moment later, Celeste reached into my pocket and ‘found‘ it. She didn’t hesitate at all, almost as if they’d rehearsed it countless times.”
Charmaine was calm and collected. “This area is a blind spot for the cameras, so there’s no footage. However, I never touched the ring. There won’t be my fingerprints on it. You can get it tested.”
“Tad, get a forensic expert here and have them test it on the spot.”
Emyr’s lips curled into a faint, chilling smile as he leaned back in his wheelchair.
“Anyone who dares to bully my people will pay the price.”
“Yes,” Tad said and left immediately.
Everyone present felt a chill run down their spine at Emyr’s words.
Who would have thought that this man, once known far and wide across Eragos as “the Satan,” could still command such an intimidating presence, even with both his legs rendered useless?
Celeste and Veronica were utterly unprepared for this level of confrontation.
They had merely wanted to drive Charmaine away to keep her from lingering around and stirring up trouble. They hadn’t anticipated that someone like Emyr would step in to shield her.
Leah’s heart pounded erratically. She despised Charmaine to the core but was even more terrified that Emyr’s people might uncover the truth. If that happened in front of this crowd, it would spell her downfall.
Leah tried to sound composed as she suggested, “There’s no need to trouble Mr. Emyr with this. Today is Mrs. Alessa’s birthday banquet. Let’s not waste everyone’s time…”
Celeste quickly chimed in, her guilty eyes darting nervously. “Exactly! While Charmaine hurt us, we won’t hold it against her. Can’t we just let this go?”
Charmaine ignored them and turned to Alessa respectfully. “Mrs. Alessa, I deeply regret disrupting your celebration today. However, this matter concerns my reputation and innocence. I hope you’ll grant me the

Alessa waved her hand dismissively. “Don’t worry about it. I’ve had plenty of birthdays in my time. If something like this happens at our family’s event, it’s our failure to host properly. This matter must be investigated thoroughly”
The three women immediately felt their blood run cold.
“Since Mrs. Alessa has spoken, this must be resolved,” Olympia chimed in, walking over to Leah and gently patting her trembling back. “Don’t worry, sweetheart, Your father and I are here for you. We won’t let anyone bully you.”
Leah forced another strained smile. “Thank you, Mom.”
Watching the touching display of maternal love, Charmaine’simply smirked mockingly.
Emyr noticed her subtle smirk. His eyes darkened momentarily, though he said nothing.
Not long after, Tad returned with two experts in white coats.
“Mr. Emyr, the forensic team is here.”
Emyr gave a slight nod. “Begin the test.”
The two experts took the ring from Leah and collected fingerprints from the four women involved. In just a few moments, the results were in.
“The ring contains fingerprints from three individuals. Ms. Charmaine’s fingerprints are not present, while the other three all have clear prints on the surface. Furthermore, there’s no evidence of deliberate wiping to remove any prints.”
Charmaine’s lips curved upward as her gaze locked onto Celeste and Leah who were now as pale as sheets.
“All three of you have your fingerprints on the ring,” Charmaine began calmly. “From the moment you accused me of stealing, Veronica never touched the ring, yet her fingerprints are on it. So, it’s impossible to say I wiped my prints off while leaving others intact.”
Her voice dipped into a sarcastic lilt, dripping with disdain. “Well, it seems like some people are just trying to frame me while pretending to be the victim.”
The room erupted in astonishment. No one could have predicted the drama would take such a turn.
