Daniel narrowed his eyes slightly. “Celeste, you should watch your words. Don’t invite criticism for lacking virtue and tarnishing the school’s reputation.“.
Celeste’s face immediately soured, her tone turning sharp and sarcastic. “Daniel, I was sticking up for Leah. But the way you’re talking, someone might think you’re Charmaine’s boyfriend instead.”
Daniel’s hand tightened into a fist.
Leah was nearly fuming upon hearing that.
What is she babbling about?
She was still holding back her anger when three tall, handsome young men dressed smartly in white shirts and slacks entered through the classroom door. The logo on their name tags was strikingly recognizable.
The trio knocked politely. “Excuse me, did Ms. Nelson order cakes?”
Celeste’s attention was immediately drawn to them. “Wait, aren’t these the delivery guys from Swan Delights, the hottest bakery trending online right now?”
“Isn’t their cake fully booked at least half a month in advance? Plus, all their ingredients are flown in from overseas. Even their smallest desserts are ridiculously expensive!”
“It is Swan Delights! Wow, Daniel is so thoughtful!”
“This is what it means to be rich and extravagant!”
-Leah beamed and cradled her face in delight. “Daniel, you’re so nice to me.”
She practically fluttered like a butterfly as she rushed to the door to sign for the delivery.
Daniel frowned as an odd feeling crept into his mind.
He wondered if the snacks he’d arranged yesterday were from this bakery.
“Are you Ms. Nelson?” one of the delivery guys asked as Leah approached them.
“Yes, that’s me,” Leah replied confidently.
“Alright, please confirm the cakes before signing for them.”
“Sure thing!”
From their boxes, the delivery men pulled out three exquisite cakes, each one was their signature Diamond Velvet Cake.
Not only were the delivery guys stunningly attractive, but the cakes themselves looked like works of art- luxurious and almost unreal.
“I’ve only seen this cake on display at their store,” someone murmured. “Just one costs more than 180,000 dollars, and there are three here … ”
“Oh my gosh, Daniel is so extravagant!”

While the others gawked, Charmaine glanced over briefly and shook her head in silent disapproval.
She thought Daniel might have matured after a few years apart.

Leah felt her heart race with excitement under the enu gazes of those around her.
“The cakes are perfect! Where do I sign?” she asked cheerfully.
She scrawled her name on the receipt and turned to call out, “Celeste, Veronica, can you help me cut the cakes and share them with everyone?”
“Wait.” One of the delivery guys stopped them before they could pick up the cake knives. “The name signed doesn’t match the designated recipient.”
“What’s the big deal? Leah’s handwriting is just a little fancy. Maybe you can’t read it,” Celeste snapped dismissively.
The delivery guy remained polite but firm. “Let me confirm again. Are you Ms. Charmaine Nelson?”
Leah was about to answer when the words caught in her throat.
“Who are you talking about?”
Celeste was quicker to react. “Are you saying these three cakes are for Charmaine?” she exclaimed.
The three delivery guys answered in unison, “Yes, these are for Ms. Charmaine Nelson. Could you let us know who that is?”
“That would be me.”
Charmaine stepped forward, equally puzzled. “But I didn’t order any cakes.”
She took the receipt and glanced at it. Sure enough, her name was clearly written there.
Who is wasting money on me like this?
Is it Rex?
No way. I will have to yell at Rex later. Who in their right mind would spend this much on cakes?
Celeste folded her arms and commented sarcastically, “Hah! As if you could even afford to order them! Just so you know, each cake costs more than 180,000 dollars!”

Just then, another delivery guy entered with a different order. “I have 32 cups of coffee here, ordered by Mr. Quinn. Could someone sign for them?”
Everyone looked at the inexpensive coffee and then at the luxurious cake awkwardly.
Charmaine neatly folded the receipt, thanked the delivery men, and shot Celeste a glance. “Yes, you absolutely can afford it. Why don’t you buy one for everyone tomorrow?”
