Chapter 62 Eymr’s Soft Spot or Not
Freya felt utterly humiliated after being exposed in public.
Does this girl know medicine too?

“Emyr, don’t believe her. These are just nourishing supplements–I only wanted to help improve your health-”
“There’s no need for that!” Emyr cut her off sharply. Then he ordered, “Alfred, please escort Dr. White out. She doesn’t need to come for consultations anymore.”
Freya looked as though she’d been struck by lightning. She thought she must have misheard. “Emyr, stop joking. If I don’t come, who will treat your condition?”
“She’s enough.”
Who?
Freya was stunned. Before she could ask for clarification, Alfred firmly escorted her out of the room.
Charmaine walked up to Emyr. “Do you still want these pills?”
Emyr shot her a sidelong glance. “Do you want me to throw you out too?”
Charmaine quickly waved her hands. “Please, Mr. Emyr, I’m innocent here.”
With that, she emptied the bottle of pills into the artificial pond nearby.
These pills were of no use to Emyr, so feeding them to the crocodile in the pond wouldn’t hurt.
Emyr watched her as she picked up a piece of dried fish and started teasing Little Fish. Her slender and graceful figure stood out to him.
Watching Little Fish retreat repeatedly from her teasing, Charmaine laughed heartily.
Her natural beauty paired with the small red beauty mark near her eye made her look alluring.
When she had her fun, she turned back and asked with a smile, “Mr. Emyr, do you have any other instructions? If not, I’ll head back.”
The man slowly withdrew his gaze, which had unknowingly lingered on her.
“Why? Are you busy?”
Emyr’s tone made it hard for Charmaine to discern his mood.
She frowned slightly. “Didn’t you call me here just to help get rid of Dr. White?”
His intent had been blatantly obvious.
Only someone as oblivious as Freya wouldn’t have caught on.
That was exactly why she had the guts to play along.

Charmaine smacked her forehead and exclaimed in mock regret, “Oh no, I completely misunderstood Mr. Emyr’s intentions. I’d better call Alfred to bring Dr. White back.”
Emyr’s voice dropped a few degrees. “Charmaine!”
His chest heaved as he worked to steady his breathing. Once composed, he explained, “Freya is the granddaughter of one of my grandfather’s old friends. Keeping her around makes the old man happy. After my accident, the doctors were of no use. I didn’t want to upset my grandfather, so I let her stay.”
But Grandpa hadn’t lived to see me recover.
Emyr lowered his eyes after speaking. He looked gloomy.
Charmaine put away her teasing expression.
The first time she met Emyr, he had seemed untouchable even seated in a wheelchair. He was aloof and commanding, like a deity above mortal reach.
However, for the first time, she got a glimpse at the vulnerable side hidden beneath his unshakable exterior.
Even the strongest, most imposing people had their soft spot.
Charmaine opened her mouth as if to speak but hesitated. Finally, she rested her hand lightly on the arm of his wheelchair. “Don’t worry, Mr. Emyr. I won’t let you down.”
Emyr lifted his gaze and studied her for a long moment before saying, “Is your class over for today?”
“Yes, there was just one orientation class today.”
“Good. Send Alfred your class schedule. Work continues as usual.”
Charmaine blinked, momentarily thrown off by the abrupt change in topic. “Work?”
Emyr smirked as he looked at her with amusement.
“What? Do you think a few days off means you no
longer have to serve me?”
“Of course not,” she muttered.
Hmph! I had just started feeling sorry for him–what a waste of sympathy!
There’s no way that Emyr has any soft spot! That Satan
was hard as steel–through and through!
Meanwhile, Leah who was still fuming from her humiliation during class, furiously typed out messages to Bennett, venting her frustrations.
Even after sending her tirade, she felt unsatisfied. With Celeste and Veronica offering comfort, the three decided to go shopping at the new mall.
Yet even in the most pointing at her.

Leah answered sweetly. “Mom. Chanel just launched two new handbags. How about we each get one?”

Before she could finish, Olympia’s breathing grew heavier, as if struggling to contain her emotions. “Where are you?”
“I’m at the Chanel store at Apex Mall. What’s wrong, Mom?”
The only reply was the dial tone of a disconnected call.
