Her phone had never buzzed so much with messages and greetings.
Over the next few days, Basil, Joe, Rex, and Sid all sent their New Year wishes and gifts.
Keon, Shawn, Sinnova, and Kane each sent transfers with their greetings, too. Even Paxton and Ingram joined in.
At lunch, Alfred secretly handed her a small box–and inside was a gold brick!
Charmaine, who had already lived through two lives, felt a bit stunned.
So this was how the children felt to be spoiled during the New Year.
In her previous life at the Nelson Mansion, Charmaine had never felt surrounded by kindness or warmth.
She used to believe she wasn’t worthy of love. But now, things were clearer.

Daniel had also sent a gift, but Charmaine ignored it completely. She deleted the message and blocked him. It was the New Year, and she didn’t want to waste time on him.
That evening, Kane came back to the villa, and surprisingly, Tad and Alfred also joined them for a fondue dinner. They sat together watching the Springfest Gala on TV.
In Eastlake, there was designated spot for setting off fireworks, and they’d been lighting up the sky nonstop since nightfall. From the dining room’s tall windows, the view was filled with bright bursts of color, one after another. It was stunning.
Charmaine sat enjoying the spicy fondue with a chilled soda, feeling cozy and relaxed. She narrow eyes in satisfaction.
Emyr lightly tapped her hand. “Easy on the cold drinks. It’s chilly.”
She playfully stuck out her tongue. “I know.”
As soon as she set her cola down, her phone buzzed. A New Year message from Celeste had come through.
Charmaine replied briefly, and soon after, Celeste sent her a screenshot.

Even Bennett had asked Leah for cash–no way he’d give her anything close to what the Nelsons did.
Celeste huffed. “I can’t stand her flaunting. And the comments–everyone’s kissing up to her!”
She dug through her phone and threw together a few photos of cash. “Think this is enough for me to flex a little?”
Charmaine glanced at the photos. “Not really. Looks like Leah’s still ahead.
“Ugh! Only my parents gave me large amounts. The others just gave a few hundred or a little more. The Nelsons have so many people–it’s already impressive that just the two of mine can compete with their five!”
What truly annoyed Celeste was that when she sent New Year’s greetings to that flirtatious, pretty boy Rex, he only gave her 200 bucks!
As a big boss, he was so stingy.
After thinking for a second, Charmaine sent her screenshots of the transfers from Emyr and Sylvia.
She didn’t include the ones from Basil and the rest–too awkward to explain.

It was lucky that she didn’t play them out loud. She could already picture Celeste freaking out.

Charmaine smiled. She knew Sylvia liked her a lot.
