To their dismay, their date ended up costing barely a hundred dollars over the course of two hours, most of which was spent on food in the crowded street food district.
The mall owner, who had been eagerly anticipating a record–breaking sales day for the New Year, was utterly shocked.
He had imagined the wealthy mogul splurging on lavish gifts, buying everything in sight to win his woman’s approval.
Instead, they barely spent anything at all, and all his hopes seemed to collapse.
But now, with Charmaine’s return, a spark of hope lit up in his eyes.
He figured a business magnate’s girlfriend wouldn’t walk through a mall without making purchases, confident she wouldn’t leave without spending a fortune.
She must’ve been shy to spend money because Mr. Cross was with her, but she’s back now!
The mall manager almost felt as though he could see a mountain of cash pouring in before him. His hands trembled with excitement as he made his way over to Charmaine. “Ms. Nelson, did you find something you like? We can have it wrapped and sent directly to your hotel room.”
Charmaine noticed the eager gleam in the manager’s eyes. After a moment of thought, she asked, “We don’t have our phone or wallet with us. Can we still make a purchase?”
“Of course!” the manager replied without missing a beat.
Liam and Veronica exchanged looks, their expressions darkening.
Liam, seething with frustration, snapped, “Why the double standards?”
The manager responded with a polite smile. “For VIP customers, we offer a service where items can be
delivered first and paid for later. If you would like to become a VIP customer, we’d be happy to extend this
service to you as well.”
Liam was stunned, then he demanded does one become a VIP?”
The manager flashed a grin, showing his white teeth. “A yearly spending of 90 million, sir. Would you like me to upgrade your status?”
Liam stood speechless.
Ninety million? Is this a joke?
Veronica’s jealousy practically radiated off her.
Charmaine isn’t even the one paying–it’s all Mr. Emyr’s money!
She turned her cold gaze away from them and instead focused on Celeste. “So, are you still buying?”

The manager’s face twisted with barely controlled anger as he glared at the saleswoman. What have you done
to our VIP customer?!
The saleswoman struggled to force a smile, but it ended up looking more like a grimace.
She regretted everything. If I hadn’t been misled, I would never have offended such an important customer.
With her head bowed, she muttered endless apologies, but it was too late to make amends with Charmaine and Celeste.
The store manager hurried over to apologize on behalf of the saleswoman, but the manager, still furious, snapped, “Why are you apologizing to me? Apologize to the customer!”
The store manager dragged the saleswoman away, offering yet another round of profuse apologies.
Finally, with a smile that seemed almost fake, the manager led Charmaine and Celeste to the next store. His face, however, was far from pleasant. Turning toward the saleswoman, he said coldly, “You’re fired.”
The saleswoman stood frozen, horrified. Realizing her mistake, she begged, “Please, just one more chance! This isn’t my fault! They-”
“Ha, you want me to give you another chance to offend our best customer? Get out, now!” The store manager was trembling with anger.
The saleswoman, eyes red with frustration, tore off her name tag and left the store in humiliation.
Before leaving, she threw one last look at Liam and Veronica, her gaze filled with bitterness and hatred.
Liam and Veronica were thoroughly embarrassed; they tried to leave without a word with their heads down, under the cold disapproving stare of the store manager.
Meanwhile, Charmaine and Celeste had barely made it out of the store when mall staff approached them with their lost phone and wallet, saying that someone had turned them in to lost and found.
Celeste, taken aback, slapped her forehead. “Wait, how is this possible? We didn’t lose them, they were stolen!”
Charmaine took the phone, her gaze distant. “No, they were stolen.”
“So now

has the thief turning a new leaf, or has someone kind helped us?” Celeste wondered aloud.
Charmaine noticed Liam and Veronica had quickly left the mall after exiting the Windsure Diamond store. Her eyes flashed briefly as she turned to the manager. “Can I see the surveillance footage?”
Without hesitation, the manager agreed. “Of course, feel free!”
A VIP customer’s request? Naturally, we have to fulfil it!
Later that evening, the Cross Group held their annual gala, and Charmaine, along with Celeste, made their way to the restaurant Emyr had arranged for them.
