Chapter 42 To Prove Her Skill

Mr. Stuman paused for a moment, his eyes shifting toward Charmaine as realization slowly dawned on him.
Of course…
This ‘Robin‘ had only shown him a letter when she arrived, but there was no concrete proof that she was the real Robin. And even the authenticity of that letter was still in question.
After all, no one had ever seen Robin’s face.
Charmaine could feel the weight of the skeptical looks from Mr. Stuman and everyone else.
She was about to speak when suddenly, a nurse rushed in, out of breath. “Director, we have three patients in the emergency room. They showed symptoms of vomiting blood and unconsciousness. It’s looking serious, and the doctors can’t figure out what’s wrong!”
Mr. Stuman’s face went pale. “Quick, get the head of internal medicine here, now!”
At that moment, Lorenzo spoke up, his tone laced with meaning. “Why the rush, director? After all, we have the famous Professor Robin right here.”
Mr. Stuman’s eyes brightened instantly.
But in the next second, hesitation crept in.
Lorenzo’s words had planted doubt in his mind about Charmaine’s identity. What if this ‘Robin‘ wasn’t the real deal? If she turned out to be a fraud, it could mean calamity for the entire hospital.
Before Mr. Stuman could process it all, Charmaine stood up and walked toward the nurse. “Lead the way”
The nurse didn’t know who Charmaine was, but something in Charmaine’s voice calmed her jittery nerves. She quickly nodded and led the way.
“Hey, I didn’t get to say anything yet!”
Mr. Stuman was anxious now, rushing to catch up with the group.
When they arrived at the emergency room, the special care unit at the back was a complete mess.
As soon as Charmaine entered through the automatic glass doors, one of the patients near the entrance coughed up blood.
Charmaine narrowed her eyes and quickly approached
Lorenzo was a step behind, and seeing this, he raised his voice deliberately. “When lives are on the line, some people shouldn’t pretend to know what they’re doing.”
His words made everyone in the emergency room turn toward Charmaine, tension rising.
Charmaine ignored them, stepping around the nurse and taking the blood–spitting patient’s hand, checking for a pulse.

He scoffed, somewhat surprised. Looks like the fraud knew a thing or two after all.

He didn’t take lives lightly, though, and joined the other doctors to check on the remaining patients.
Once the cause was found, treatment would be straightforward.
Lorenzo’s name carried weight in the hospital, and Mr. Stumman, aware of his skills, found himself quickly persuaded by his words.
The older doctor took the stethoscope and examined the patient’s heartbeat, making a swift decision. “It’s food poisoning. We need to wash out the stomach.”
A nearby emergency doctor chimed in. “We thought the same at first. But there’s only blood coming up and no other signs of poisoning. It’s thanks to Dr. Zimmer’s diagnosis that we can proceed now.”
Lorenzo’s face displayed smug satisfaction. “You still don’t have enough experience. Stick around in the ER, and you’ll learn. Get the stomach wash ready…

Charmaine said, “Do that, and you’ll be seeing a lot more blood than you do now.”
Lorenzo’s expression darkened. “What exactly do you mean by that?”
Charmaine, having already checked the pulses of the other two patients, looked at him with calm assurance. “The shock symptoms come from food poisoning, yes. But the blood vomiting is a result of lung inflammation. If I’m correct, all three patients are related. They share the same lung condition.”
“That’s nonsense!” Lorenzo snapped, his voice rising in disbelief.
“I didn’t hear any lung problems when I checked them. And how could you possibly say they’re related? You can’t find out everything just by feeling their pulses. That’s ridiculous.”
Charmaine simply looked at him, shaking her head with a hint of pity in her
eyes.
She ignored his outburst and began preparing a needle, rolling up the first patient’s sleeve.
“What are you doing?”
Lorenzo rushed toward her, trying to stop her, but the nurse quickly interrupted, panic in her voice. “The blood tests and respiratory pathogen results are back. They- they do have a lung condition.”
Lorenzo froze. “What?”
In disbelief, he grabbed the test results from the nurse, scanning the pages quickly.
His face went pale as the facts stared back at him.
Charmaine had been right about everything.
Even the family connection was correct.
Stunned into silence, the nurse’s voice cut through the stillness.“The patient isn’t coughing up anymore!”
