The sharp sound of the slap rang out through the first–class cabin, causing everyone nearby to hold their breath while watching Charmaine with wide eyes.

The air was thick with tension, a quiet but intense anger that felt like it could explode at any moment.

However, to everyone’s shock, Emyr didn’t react with fury. Instead, he calmly fastened Charmaine’s seatbelt, adjusting the straps with quick, precise movements.

Only then did Charmaine turn her head, her eyes meeting his.

Emyr’s gaze was unwavering, his stare as intense as hers, neither of them willing to look away.

After a moment, the rigid tension in Emyr seemed to ease, and he spoke, his voice steady and unexpectedly apologetic, “I’m sorry.”

The apology hung in the air, leaving everyone stunned. It was clear that no one had expected this.

They had all been prepared for a confrontation, but Emyr had apologized instead.

Even Shawn’s eyes nearly popped out of their sockets!

This was the first time Shawn had seen someone stand up to Emyr, and not only survive it but also make him apologize.

Is Emyr sleepwalking? Or am I in a dream?

Still processing the scene, the passengers leaned in, hoping for more, but Emyr had already leaned in close to Charmaine, speaking in a voice too quiet for anyone else to hear.

The overly sweet moment between them made the others cringe.

It was almost nauseating!

Keon, unable to control himself, stifled a laugh behind his hand.

He then glanced at Veronica, who stood frozen, looking utterly bewildered. The man who had once commanded the room had now returned to his usual icy indifference.

“I’m not used to sitting next to others,” Emyr remarked nonchalantly.

His meaning was clear. Get back to your economy class seat.

Veronica clenched her jaw, her face burning with embarrassment.

She felt like a joke; the way the other passengers stared at her as though she were a disgrace.

Great. Just great.

With clenched fists, Veronica threw one last frustrated glance at Charmaine and Emyr, who were still leaning into each other, before storming off in a huff.

Charmaine, clearly displeased, tried to pull her hand away, tugging a couple of times, but he refused to let go. She rolled her eyes in exasperation.

“Hmph, now you realize your mistake? You thought you could use Veronica to get under my skin, but that’s never going to happen.”

Emyr pressed his lips together, his tone softening as he explained, his voice low and apologetic, “I know, I should’ve made her leave earlier, but I got upset that you weren’t answering my calls, and when I saw you come back, I just acted without thinking.”

His voice sounded almost reflective, as though he was genuinely regretful.

“I understand now. When I mess up, I should just wait for you to calm me down. I shouldn’t try to piss you off. When you’re angry, I end up losing too.”

Charmaine, still processing his words, turned to him, confused. “You losing? What are you talking about?”

Emyr, as always, was quick to explain. “When you calm me down, I can ask for something, or some kind of compensation. But now, since it’s my fault, I’m the one who loses.”

Charmaine’s jaw tightened. Of course–typical businessman logic. He’s saying he loses because of his pride!

Not wanting to entertain him any further, she shifted her focus elsewhere. Seeing her refusal to engage, Emyr sighed, clearly giving up. “If you needed to grab something, you should’ve just had Tad get it for you.”

“I didn’t expect to have to wait this long.”

Charmaine pulled out her phone to switch it to airplane mode, only to notice a missed call from Emyr.

“I was rushing through security, and things were chaotic. I didn’t have time to pick up,” she explained.

Emyr glanced up at the overhead luggage compartment. “What’s in there?”

Charmaine blinked, responding casually, “Stuff I need for a trip to an island.”

Emyr raised an eyebrow, but before he could respond, Shawn’s head popped up from the front row, offering a playful salute to Charmaine with a grin.

“Ms. Nelson, you’re incredible. You’ve managed to turn Emyr–this big, fierce tiger, into a little kitten.”

Shawn leaned in, curiosity clear in his eyes. “Is there a secret? Can you share it with me? I need to know how to avoid getting ‘tamed‘ in a relationship.”
