Charmaine had been teasing. She never expected Emyr to take her words seriously and scrutinize her so closely.

Charmaine blinked, her eyes wide in disbelief. “Are you for real?”
Emyr casually tapped her forehead. “Of course… I’m just messing with you.”
Charmaine felt speechless.
Seems like he’s really bored.
Charmaine rolled her eyes, pursing her lips, and mimicked his posture, throwing herself onto the bed.
She made sure to face his side, and soon they were lying face–to–face, staring at each other.
A faint smile tugged at the corners of Emyr’s mouth, but Charmaine broke the silence. “Are you thinking about giving up?”
He hesitated for a moment, his smile slowly fading away.
“Why would you think that?” he asked.
“I’m not sure,” Charmaine replied, shaking her head. “Ever since Master Field said your legs couldn’t be healed, and after all these treatments with needles and herbal baths, you haven’t said anything. I just wondered… maybe you’ve already given up, or maybe you don’t want to continue with the treatment.”
Emyr’s gaze sharpened, locking with hers. His face was unreadable. “If I didn’t want to, I wouldn’t let you keep treating me.”
Charmaine instinctively answered, “Maybe you just don’t want me to feel disappointed.”
Emyr stared at her in silent.
She always seems to come up with explanations for me.
His expression remained unchanged. “No, I don’t think that way.”
But then, Charmaine leaned in closer, her nose almost touching his.
“I don’t know why, but I feel like you and Master Field are hiding something from me.”
At first, she hadn’t thought much about it, but recently, Emyr had been so compliant with the treatments. He didn’t show any resistance, frustration, or anger. It feels strange. Why is he so … calm about it?
Has he really accepted it? Or is there something else going on?
Emyr met her gaze with calm eyes, not betraying any signs of hiding something.

When Emyr saw her slump her shoulders, her hair hanging lifelessly, and looking so deflated, his thoughts shifted. A brief flicker of something else appeared in his eyes.
He reached out and spoke softly, “Don’t be too discouraged. Maybe your method will work in the end.”
Charmaine turned her face toward him, a glimmer of hope lighting up her eyes. “Really? You really believe in me?”
Émyr extended a finger and lightly tapped her nose. “Of course. Who else would I place my trust in?”
“That’s awesome! Then starting tomor
we can target a few more pressure points! Maybe we’ll see some actual results!” Charmaine grinned mischievously, her dimples showing.
“I’ve been thinking about how to
bring this up for days. There are some pressure points on the upper body, and the treatment might be a bit uncomfortable. But since you’ve agreed, I can go ahead and start!”
Emyr fell silent.
Ah, so she’s set a trap for me; just waiting for me to fall into it.
At the Nelsons‘, Olympia was fuming in the car, and when they arrived home, she found Willard and Jonah walking in from outside.
The father and son had one thing in common–both had serious expressions, one stormy, the other clearly deep in thought.
Olympia’s heart skipped a beat. She remembered Rex’s phone call and hurried to Willard’s side, asking, “Is something wrong with the company?”
Willard’s face darkened. “You’ve heard? That damned Rex!”
Hearing that name made Olympia’s heart drop.
Jonah spoke in a loc
voice, “A few hours ago, Rex suddenly announced that he was ending all cooperation with the Nelson Group. Not only did he cancel our previous agreements, but people from the Ydris Group also started spreading rumors, saying they’ll interfere with any business we’re involved in from now on.”
“Why the hell is Rex causing trouble again? The last incident is over, and now he’s targeting us for no reason!”
