Chapter 387 The Show Will Go On
As expected, Sid’s voice couldn’t hide his excitement, “Alright!”
The time for teasing her followers was concluded. Charmaine started the game match.

Rex finally stopped making a scene and opened the phone app that had been bombarding him with notifications.
His mother, who had been busy finding a potential blind date for him, had sent a few voice messages, “Rex, you really need to make the most of this one. She’s a lot like you–independent, free–spirited, cheerful. She’ll definitely get along with you.
“I’ve sent the details to your phone and arranged for you to meet her in three days. I’ve already booked the restaurant. You better make a good impression this time!”
Rex quickly replied with a simple okay emoji.
His dismissive attitude didn’t sit well with Raelyn. She quickly added another message, “By the way, Aunt Lorelei is in town these days. I’ll have her keep an eye on your date from a distance. Don’t try anything funny, got it?”
Rex lazily scratched his chin, responding, “Got it, don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”
His mom was so naive, thinking a little supervision would stop him?
Haha, I’ll figure out a way to sabotage the date without anyone noticing.
Later that night, Charmaine gave Emyr his treatment and casually mentioned that she’d be coming home late the next day.
Emyr, lying on the bed, turned to look at her. “Didn’t the show stop filming?”
Charmaine blinked and replied calmly, “I’ve been helping out with the show and lend a hand at the hospital too. It’s boring staying at home, so I figured it would be useful to help out.”
Emyr didn’t argue. He seemed to agree with her but added, “Make sure you always have your phone on you.”
Charmaine smiled. “Of course!”
She continued working, but after a moment, she suddenly asked absentmindedly, “Emyr, if you found out I lied to you, would you hate me?”
Emyr’s body tensed for just a moment before he answered.
He lowered his voice, not answering directly, but asking, “So, what are you hiding from me?”
Even so, Charmaine could tell the answer from the honest responses in his body.
He found it bothersome, which was understandable–no one enjoys deceit.
Even if the lie was meant to be harmless.

Her eyes flickered for a second. She lowered her gaze to hide the dimness in it.

When she looked up, she met his scrutinizing gaze. With a playful smile, she laughed softly, “You’re so serious about this. I was just joking.”
She pouted and muttered to herself, “I don’t even need to ask. If I lied to you, you’d probably strangle me.”
Emyr stared at her for a long time.
After a while, he raised his hand and, with practiced case, flicked her forehead.
It seemed like he believed that she was just joking. He gave a small snort and said, “Just be good and don’t make trouble.”
Charmaine stuck her tongue out at him, looking mischievous.
Emyr smiled faintly.
That conversation was a casual remark as if neither of them took it seriously.
The next morning, Charmaine fed the kittens their milk before heading out.
At the hospital, she found the production crews rearranging things.
She was surprised and asked, “Isn’t the show on hold?”
The crew smiled at her and explained, “Dr. Robin, you didn’t hear? Mr. Zimmer pulled out of the White Group investment, but Mr. Emyr added new funds early this morning to cover the gap. We can continue filming now.”
“Yeah, Freya caused enough trouble to push the show’s popularity to a new high. The higher–ups are paying more attention now, making sure we capture the daily hospital life authentically.”
Emyr?
That made sense. He was a capitalist through and through, and now was the perfect time to cash in on the opportunity.
Charmaine went to her office to finish the pre–consultation sanitizing process and started her work for the day.
At lunch, Charmaine rubbed her stiff neck as she stepped outside to grab her takeout.
The cafeteria was crowded, so she avoided it.
But as soon as she stepped out, she saw Zayn sitting nervously in one of the hallway chairs.
When he saw her, he quickly stood up, looking flustered.
“Dr. Robin.”
Zayn took a deep breath, gathering his courage. “Dr. Robin, I came to apologize for that day.”
