Chapter 384 Burn the Bridge
Everyone stared at him, stunned.
Zayn’s face was unreadable as he stood up and said, “I’m full.”
As if remembering something, he addressed Olympia’s earlier question.
“Forget about Dr. Robin. Yesterday, we burned that bridge completely.”
Leah’s smile, which she had just put on, instantly disappeared, and her face fell.
“What? What do you mean, Zayn? What did you do to offend Dr. Robin?” she asked, her voice full of confusion and concern.

Willard furrowed his brow deeply, his face turning serious as he questioned, “Haven’t you always had a good relationship with Dr. Robin? How did things go so wrong yesterday?”
Zayn pressed his lips together tightly and remained silent, his expression grave.
Everyone turned to Leah, seeking an explanation.
Leah clutched the tablecloth beneath the table with both hands, trying desperately to maintain a calm and composed expression.
After a long pause, she blinked, and then her eyes reddened. A sense of helplessness mixed with an overwhelming feeling of injustice filled her.
“Yesterday, the Whites came storming into the hospital,” she started, her voice shaky. “They had all the -evidence–witnesses and proof. We believed that Dr. Robin’s medication error was inevitable. But Dr. Robin
still insisted that she hadn’t done anything wrong.”
As she spoke, Leah unconsciously bit her lip, the taste of blood filling her mouth.
“The situation was so tense. I was worried the Whites might do something irrational in their anger, so I spoke up, urging Dr. Robin to apologize and admit his mistake.”
“What?!”
Their expression changed in shock. Valda, furious, slammed her hand on the table. “Why did you interfere?!”
Willard’s face darkened as he sharply reprimanded, “But nothing was set in stone yet! Until the police release an official report, everything is still up in the air. You acted too hastily!”
The harsh words made Leah tremble with frustration. She began to sob, her lips quivering with sadness and regret. “I didn’t know Dr. Robin had set up other surveillance cameras to prove her innocence. If I had known earlier, I never would’ve said what I did. I was only trying to help her.”
Tears fell from her eyes, one by one, splashing into the grits in front of her. Olympia’s heart ached as she
watched.
“Sweetheart, don’t cry. You didn’t want this to happen. How could you have known Dr. Robin had such a trick up her sleeve?” Olympia murmured gently, trying to comfort her. “Don’t cry. Leah threw herself into Olympia’s arms, crying as she reflected on her actions. “I’ll never make this mistake again.”
Her soft, gentle apology melted Olympia’s heart, and she couldn’t bear to scold her.
“Alright, alright, as long as you admit your mistake and learn from it, you’re still our lovely girl. Stop crying now, okay?”

Just a good intention that turned out into something bad?
For some reason, Zayn, standing at the edge of the room, watching this scene of tender affection, suddenly felt a heaviness in his chest. Hearing Olympia’s forgiving words made something in his heart feel tight. Without a word, he walked away.
Jonah glanced at him, then quietly muttered, “I’m going to the office.” After that, he gets up to follow Zayn.
In the parking lot.
“Zayn!”
Jonah walked briskly, stepping in front of Zayn before he could get in the car.
As an older brother, Jonah felt it was his responsibility to mediate the conflict between his younger siblings.
“I know you’ve admired Robin for a long time and don’t want to give up on her. Leah’s actions weren’t great, but once I finish up with some end–of–year matters, I’ll go with you to apologize to Robin.”
Zayn’s expression softened slightly. “Jonah, I can handle the apology to Robin myself. This has nothing to do with you.”
He hesitated for a moment before continuing.
Jonah urged, “If there’s something on your mind, just say it. You’re my brother, and there’s nothing we can’t talk about.”
Zayn sighed in relief, glancing back at the house before speaking in a low, heavy tone, “Jonah, do you think I was too harsh on Leah this time?”
Jonah didn’t answer immediately.
Zayn tugged his lips, not waiting for a response, and spoke on his own, “Yes, we only have one sister, and we’ve always spoiled her. Even when she makes mistakes, as long as they don’t involve any major principles, we always forgive her unconditionally.
“But this time, I just can’t convince myself to forgive her.”
He exhaled deeply, his brow furrowing tightly.
“I know I shouldn’t blame Leah. She has a kind heart and always thinks of others. The real problem is that I wasn’t firm enough in my stance and didn’t protect Dr. Robin right away. I’m the one at fault here.”
