His gaze was icy, unreadable, yet piercing, as though he could see straight through her.

“You’re not the ‘Charmaine‘ people talk about,” he continued, his voice low and deliberate. “That version of you is arrogant, defiant, and lacks any real talent. But you–you’re skilled in cooking, incredibly sharp, and possess design abilities that others could only dream of
Emyr’s eyes locked onto hers, probing. “What else are you hiding from me?”
Charmaine lifted her chin, her clear eyes meeting his intense unwavering gaze.
She held her ground unwavering with no hint of hesitation or panic.
“Emyr, I’ve told you before–I’m here to make things right, to help heal your l
leg
Each word she spoke was deliberate, measured, and steady.”
Her voice was calm, almost serene, as though there was no hidden agenda behind her actions,
They stared at each other for what felt like an eternity.
At last, Emyr let out a smirk, one that seemed to mock her, before leaning back in his seat.
Charmaine furrowed her brows, unsure of what to make of his behavior.
She moved closer, sitting by his side. “You don’t trust me? Seriously, a grown man like you, afraid of me?”
“Charmaine, why should I trust you?”
એને અને તે નાન
Emyr responded without hesitation, his words sharp and unembellished.
“I’m not sure what tricks you’ve pulled, but I know today’s mess at the Nelsons has something to do with
you.”
He reached out, gripping Charmaine’s chin firmly. “You even went after your own family. Charmaine, you’re way too devious.”
With that, he shoved her aside.
Charmaine paused for a moment, then held back her anger, speaking quietly, “That’s my problem, not yours.”
Emyr remained silent, and no more words were exchanged until they got back to the villa.
Once they arrived, Emyr instructed Tad to follow him upstairs.
Alfred approached Charmaine, asking with concern, “Ms. Chara, are you alright?”
Charmaine shook her head and replied, “I’m alright.”
Alfred examined her carefully, and seeing that she was truly fine, he finally eased up.
“Ms. Chara, don’t take it personally. Mr. Emyr used to be very lively, but the injury changed him.”

Charmaine gave a shrug, “So because he can’t stand, his heart’s become weak and broken?”
Charmaine’s bluntness left Alfred at a loss for words, and he could only offer an awkward smile in return.
She shrugged casually, “It’s fine. I know I owe him. Even if he’s unreasonable and throws a tantrum before his leg’s healed, I won’t let it get to me. You don’t need to worry, Alfred.”
Her expression was genuine, and Alfred let out a relieved breath.
“With you around, Ms. Chara, we can all relax.”
Charmaine smiled. “I appreciate your trust, Alfred.”
The old man returned the smile warinly, inadvertently speaking the truth, “Honestly, besides you, Ms. Chara, no one else can handle Mr. Emyr’s temper right now.”
Charmaine was stunned.
While it was true, the remark felt oddly off to her.
It almost made her feel like she was the biggest victim
Ugh, that night was a real mess!
Regaining her composure, Charmaine glanced at the time and headed back to the kitchen to prepare dinner for Emyr.
After the incident the previous night, the chefs were extra cautious, making sure to avoid any ingredients that Mr. Emyr disliked.
They kept a close eye on Charmaine as she worked. Their necks craned in curiosity, worried that she might sneak something unexpected into the meal when they weren’t looking.
If it happened again …
They’d most likely be shown the door.
Charmaine was aware of how troublesome she could be, so she quickly dropped off the dinner and left before Emyr arrived.
She took the initiative to ask Alfred for Emyr’s medical records, but unfortunately, they were all in Emyr’s possession, and no one else had access to them.
However, she did ask Alfred about Emyr’s symptoms when he was unwell, and some thoughts began to form in her mind.
But she needed to verify it herself to be certain.
The biggest issue at the moment was Emyr’s refusal to let her treat him.
She couldn’t afford to keep wasting time with him like this.
As she was lost in thought, her phone buzzed with a new message.
At 9:30 nm. Emyr left the study and headed back to his bedroom.

As he opened the door, the sound of water running from the bathroom echoed.
His eyes scanned the space, but she was nowhere to be seen.
Huh, had she decided to hide out of embarrassment because he figured her out? What a pretentious woman.
As a frown creased his face, an unexplained frustration stirred inside him.
