Leah’s face turned crimson with panic, while Zayn’s expression grew even colder, filled with palpable disdain. “Utterly shameless and immoral. Leah, remember this–she does not deserve to be your sister.”
Before Leah could concoct an explanation, there was another knock on the door of the private room.
This time, Paxton rose to his feet, and everyone instinctively turned to the entrance.
A distinguished man in a perfectly tailored suit, with a sapphire brooch on his lapel, wheeled himself into the room. His presence commanded immediate respect.
Everyone, except Basil and Charmaine, stood up respectfully. “Mr. Emyr?!”
“We didn’t expect the new investor to be Mr. Emyr. It’s an honor to be involved in the same project!” The crowd effused, showering him with praise.
Emyr remained indifferent to their flattery. With his status, there was no need to mingle excessively with such company.
Maneuvering his wheelchair, Emyr approached Basil. He nodded slightly. “Master Field.”
Basil scrutinized him briefly before remarking, “You look much better than before, Mr. Emyr. Seems like you’ve had some good news recently.”
Emyr’s lips curled into a faint smile. “Yes, indeed. I’ve had reasons to be in a better mood lately.”
He glanced sideways, sneaking a look at Charmaine, who had reacted slowly to his arrival.
This made Basil angrier. This brat was clearly making advances on his protégé right in front of him!
Charmaine, pretending not to notice, quickly lowered her head and took a sip of water.
Her heart pounded uncontrollably when Emyr appeared. Who would’ve thought he quietly invested in the production?
Mr. Zimmer motioned everyone to sit, signaling the start of the meal.

Unbelievable. If she had wronged someone, she should be apologizing directly to them, not airing her guilt in vague whispers. Leah’s actions were steeped in passive aggression.
Meanwhile, the CEO of the Whites, Wade Young, along with other small investors, were trying to ingratiate themselves with Emyr and Basil, toasting repeatedly.
Emyr responded with cold civility, while Basil politely declined, their attitudes doing little to deter the flattery.
As more drinks were consumed, emboldened by alcohol, the group’s audacity grew.
