“Even if she isn’t our biological daughter, Leah is the one we raised from childhood, and she is still better than Charmaine, who lacked a proper upbringing!
“Leah may not be as exceptional as Charmaine, but she has talent and capability. With the right guidance, she will have a promising future. She can also bring honor to our family.”
Olympia’s voice was resolute, her gaze filled with determination.
Seeing this, Valda sighed. “Since she is now part of our family, let things be. Don’t push yourself too hard. A child growing up healthy is already a blessing. In the future, finding her a good and dependable husband who can ensure her happiness will be enough, better than what happened with Milo … ”
Before she could finish speaking, Valda abruptly fell silent.
The study was instantly shrouded in an uneasy stillness at the mere mention of Milo’s name.
It had been ages since anyone had received news about him, and the once hopeful whispers within the Nelsons had long faded into an unspoken rule, no one dared to bring him up anymore.
As expected, Olympia’s eyes reddened instantly, and without warning, tears began to fall.
Willard wrapped his arms around his wife and murmured softly, “It’s alright. The kids will be appearing on a variety show soon. Let’s not bring this up and affect their focus.”

That night, Leah received a million–dollar reward from Valda, followed by another million from Willard, with the excuse that it was for her to buy necessities for the show.
Leah sent a sweet message of thanks to Valda on WhatsApp, released the voice button, and then her expression turned ice–cold.
How hypocritical they were. Now that they saw I still had value, they thought they could tie me down with a bit of petty cash. Did they really think I would be endlessly grateful for it?

Leah took the cash, paused briefly, and then messaged Cash Ingalls, whom she hadn’t spoken to since adding him as a contact.
She texted him, “Are you back in Eragos?”
Cash responded promptly with a respectful tone, “Yes, Ms. Nelson, we returned a few days ago.”
He proceeded to summarize the results of their recent trip for her.
Watching Cash behave eagerly, like a dog seeking approval, Leah felt nothing but disdain for him.
However, when she saw the impressive profits they had earned, she couldn’t help but feel tempted.
“When your company’s business proposal is ready, make sure to send it to me. Also, I have some extra funds I’m willing to invest, but you’ll need to draft a separate contract for my shares.”
Cash quickly agreed, “Of course, I’ll prepare a business plan that meets your expectations, Ms. Nelson.”
Satisfied with issuing her commands, Leah smugly returned to her beauty treatments.
