Charmaine already had a smile tugging at her lips, her fair and clean face lighting up with a soft grin; her eyes sparkled playfully.
“I’m glad you’re not staring at my photo every day because you want to strangle me. Otherwise, I’d seriously start questioning my life.”
Emyr furrowed his brows, as if trying to figure out what her response really meant.
After a moment, he pressed his lips together. “Alright, I understand.”
Charmaine was puzzled.
“Wait, what do you understand?”
Emyr stared at her with a blank expression. “You didn’t directly respond to my confession, so you’ve rejected me.”
Charmaine blinked in surprise. Is Satan’s brain working a little too fast?!
I haven’t said anything yet!!!
Realizing that he really thought that way, the look on his handsome face turned cold. Charmaine quickly explained, “I didn’t say I don’t like you. If I didn’t like you, would I stay by your side all this time?”
Emyr squinted, eyeing her with suspicion. “You like me too?”
Charmaine paused for a moment. “I … guess so?”
Before the words were even out, the atmosphere seemed to turn icy. He scoffed coldly. “Guess?”
Charmaine backpedaled. “Absolutely! I definitely like you!”
She had a strong feeling that if she had hesitated even a second longer, he might have snapped her neck.
Emyr snorted. “Your confession was a bit out of the blue, but I’ll reluctantly accept it.”
Seeing Satan desperately trying to salvage his pride, Charmaine wanted to laugh.
Not only did she want to, but she actually laughed out loud.
Emyr watched her shoulders shake with laughter, her eyes bright and full of joy. All the inner conflict and hesitation he’d been feeling disappeared in an instant.
He loved seeing her get all worked up, her eyes wide in frustration. He loved her proud, domineering moments, but more than anything, he loved watching her laugh so freely.
And…
She really looked radiant when she laughed.

Charmaine blinked in surprise. “Huh? I thought you were off work already.”

Emyr’s ears turned slightly red, and Satan, embarrassed and irritated, snarled, “Charmaine!”
“I’m not making fun of you,” Charmaine managed between laughs, “I just think … Haha, it’s really funny.”
She tried to hold it in, but couldn’t stop herself. “Satan, you’re just too cute! Haha!”

Seething, Emyr raised his hand–but Charmaine, half–closing her eyes, didn’t even flinch.
She watched as Satan reached for her face, his fingers tightening in an angry pinch on her cheek.
Yet Emyr still wasn’t satisfied.
Especially when she looked up at him with those bright, playful, tear–filled eyes, he found himself wanting to tease her even more.
Emyr’s Adam’s apple bobbed as his large hand, which had been pinching her cheek, slid to the back of her head. He gently cupped her face and pulled her forward, bringing her beautiful face closer to his.
Charmaine’s eyes widened in surprise. Before she could react, her hands instinctively pushed against the firm muscles of his chest. The next moment, his warm lips pressed against hers.
It wasn’t the first kiss, nor the first time Emyr had kissed her while she was awake.
But Charmaine was certain she had never felt her senses so heightened before.
Almost all of her focus was absorbed in that moment when Emyr kissed her, completely fixated on him and the place where their bodies were pressed together.
Her lips were soft, hot, and trembling gently.
Emyr kissed her awkwardly, cautiously, but his desire to be close to her drove him to deepen the kiss.
His large hand slid from the back of her head, tracing down her neck, finally pressing firmly against her shoulder blades, holding her tightly. His actions spoke louder than words, expressing his deep possessiveness.
