“Hahaha! Charmaine, you should’ve seen it! Just an hour ago, people were accusing you of being attention- seeking and fake. But guess what? The truth came out, and now those same people are lining up to apologize! It’s so satisfying to watch!”
Celeste burst out laughing, holding up her phone for Charmaine to see.
Charmaine glanced at it briefly and responded simply, “Hmm.”
Celeste went on, “The higher–ups sure acted fast. I’ve never seen them issue a statement this quickly. The official forum even pinned it, and the principal himself approved it. Looks like he knows you’re a big shot now and wants to show his support.”
Charmaine remained unfazed. “A signal jammer incident is serious. If something else happens, they won’t be able to dodge responsibility.”
Celeste considered her words and nodded. “Good point.”
Then, she noticed Charmaine still holding her phone and couldn’t resist teasing, “Are you busy chatting with Mr. Emyr?”
Charmaine was about to correct her but decided against it. Her silence only encouraged Celeste to tease her
more.
Sid rarely appeared in the small group chat, so when Charmaine saw him online, she asked about his
progress.
Sid took the opportunity to ask, “Charmaine, when will you be free? It’s been a while since we had dinner and watched the stars together.”
She replied, “Sorry! I might not have time for a few more days.”
Sid let out a disappointed sigh.
Just then, Rex chimed in, “Sid, be reasonable. Boss is busy with final exams right now.”
Sid immediately asked, “When do the exams end?”
Rex answered enthusiastically, “In two days!”
Charmaine was surprised. “How do you know that so well?”
Rex froze.
Not only did he know exactly when their exams would finish, but he was also aware they had a camping trip planned for the next day. Of course, he had gotten all this information from Celeste.
Luckily, he hadn’t typed too fast–if he had sent everything he knew, Charmaine would start getting suspicious.
Thinking quickly, he covered his tracks. “Boss, don’t forget that Ydris Group is on your list of internship options for next semester. The company’s contact person told me, so I remembered the schedule!”

Charmaine sighed. “It’s a class trip. It wouldn’t be convenient.”

Sid pleaded, “Can’t you bring me as your family member? I promise I won’t cause trouble–I’ll help out with everything and won’t slow anyone down.”
Although her heart softened, Charmaine stayed firm. “Sid, be good. There will be a lot of people there, and it might be hard to look after you. I’ll take you somewhere else next time.”
Sid kept asking, but she never agreed.
Rex, observing their conversation, suddenly had a thought. He privately messaged Celeste, “Is there someone Charmaine is particularly interested in camping with?”
Celeste was walking ahead when she saw the message. Startled, she quickly turned to glance at Charmaine. Then, she stepped aside and thought deeply about Rex’s words.
No matter what, she couldn’t let Rex get involved.
After a brief pause, she replied, “No, just classmates.”
Rex wasn’t convinced. “You took forever to type just three words. Something’s up.”
Celeste froze.
“Send me the location and time. I’m coming too.”
Now, she was completely helpless.
Meanwhile, Kane, still unable to return home, made a special trip from the branch office to headquarters to check on Emyr.
Even though Emyr kept him away, Kane was still a good cousin. Naturally, he had to show concern- especially since Emyr wasn’t in the best mood after his fallout with Charmaine.
As Kane strolled toward the CEO’s office, he whistled, expecting to walk into a gloomy atmosphere.
To his surprise, the usually solemn secretaries and assistants were now enjoying afternoon tea from a high- end hotel.
He paused in the doorway, blinking in confusion. “Did I walk into the wrong place?” he muttered.
The employees noticed him and greeted him warmly. “Good afternoon, Mr. Kane.”
Kane grinned and waved. “Is Emyr inside?”
They nodded. “Yes, he’s in his office.”
