She straightened up, “Mr. Emyr, sorry for the intrusion today.”

Celeste was taken aback, never expecting Emyr to invite her so warmly.

Feeling more at ease, she responded, “With your invitation, I’ll definitely come by more often. After all, I’m Charmaine’s only close friend! Hehe, and I need her help to prep for my finals …‘
Emyr seemed to realize something.
He knew little about her school life.
Her friends, her studies, her social circle…

Emyr looked thoughtful and then asked, “Does she not have many friends at school?”
“Yes, Charmaine keeps to herself a lot, and she took a two–year break before jumping directly into her third year. At first, everyone was quite hostile, worried she might drag down our grades. But then, Charmaine proved everyone wrong with her performance!”
Celeste spoke of the past with a bit of embarrassment.
Back then, under Leah’s influence, she had led the charge against Charmaine.
Looking back, she really regretted her actions!
Celeste smacked her forehead in regret, then heard Emyr ask, “Are there still people in her class who dislike her?”
“Now it’s different. Everyone recognizes that Charmaine isn’t the troublemaker some thought she was, and they appreciate that she’s the reason we got into the Cross Group internship. A lot of them are really grateful to her now.”
Emyr nodded, then his tone took on a more cautious note, and Celeste could feel the shift in the atmosphere.
“Now that she’s changed your perspective, I suppose she has quite a few admirers at school, right?”
Celeste felt a chill down her spine. There were none at school, but …
“No, after you made a show of support for Charmaine, everyone at school knew she was with you, Mr. Emyr, so nobody dared to make a move on her.”

Emyr’s lips twitched into a faint smile, pleased with her commitment.
When Charmaine came out with the dinner, she found them chatting away.
She was surprised, “I didn’t expect you two to hit it off so well.”
Celeste beamed, “Of course, we’ve found quite a bit in common!”

Charmaine’s brow twitched, amused by how well Celeste could socialize, seemingly with anyone.
The dinner was set down, all near Emyr.
Celeste exclaimed, “Did you cook all this for Mr. Emyr? That’s so sweet!”
Charmaine explained, “He’s a picky eater, and I’ve always managed his meals.”
Celeste gestured knowingly, “So you’ve basically got Mr. Emyr eating out of your hand, even sweeter!”
Charmaine rolled her eyes.
Celeste was becoming impatient. Having established a rapport with Emyr, she grew bolder, chatting incessantly during the meal.
Emyr stayed quiet, and Charmaine, annoyed by her questions, responded only occasionally.
If it were not for the message that popped up on Celeste’s phone, Charmaine would have had a moment of
peace.
“Hey Charmaine, check out the class group chat.”
“What’s happening?”
“They’re planning a sunrise–watching outing after the exams.”
Charmaine did not hesitate before answering, “I’m not interested.”
As soon as she said that, Celeste’s eyes widened in anger, “Wait, Leah is taking Daniel with her? What’s she trying to prove? No, Charmaine, you have to go. Otherwise, she’ll just brag that you didn’t show because you’re still hung up on her new boyfriend!”
