Compared to the lively atmosphere in the classroom, the air around Leah and Veronica was thick with gloom, creating a stark contrast.
As Celeste was squeezed out from Charmaine’s side by enthusiastic classmates, she instinctively glanced toward the two girls.
She almost laughed herself silly.
She was absolutely elated, especially considering she had been on the verge of breaking down when locked in that dark room before the performance!
Leah had it coming!
Crossing her arms, Celeste, unable to get close to Charmaine, decided to ‘check in‘ on the other two instead.
“Oh my, why is it so deserted around you two? Weren’t you always surrounded by a bunch of sycophants before?” She deliberately plopped herself down at the desk before them, turned around, propped her face in her hands, and grinned widely.
Her expression radiated pure mockery.
Leah gazed at her coldly before speaking unexpectedly, “Celeste, if I were you, I wouldn’t be laughing.”
Even someone as dense as Celeste could hear the attempt to sow discord between her and Charmaine.
But she just laughed even harder. “Oh really? It makes perfect sense that you can’t laugh. You’re so petty and malicious that you can’t stand seeing others do better than you. But me? As long as you two wretched creatures suffer, I’m delighted!”
Leah was stunned.
Veronica was surprised.
Celeste wasn’t done yet. She leaned in and added fuel to the fire. “Oh, feeling bitter, Leah? You schemed to steal my spot, but fortunately, Charmaine intervened. And guess what? Even her impromptu performance was better than all the hours you spent practicing!
“You know what they say? The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree–unless it’s a rat, in which case, it digs holes! Hahaha!”
Leah’s face twisted, and she suddenly shot up, raising a hand. “Celeste!”
“Class is starting. Get back to your seat!”
Just then, the grade director entered the classroom, signaling everyone to return to their places.
Leah stiffened in shock, quickly lowering her hand and glancing around anxiously, afraid someone had seen the venomous expression that momentarily broke through her usual facade.
Celeste scoffed, made a face at them, and then strutted back to her seat beside Charmaine.
“Charmaine, you’ve made me so proud!”

“The school board has finalized the list of companies partnering with us for the junior year internships. Students can intern at top enterprises this year, including Cross Group, Ydris Group, Nelson Group, Carter Group, James Group, Rica Group, White Group, and other well–known small and medium–sized enterprises in Eragos.”
The moment she finished speaking, the entire class erupted in amazement.
“Whoa! Are Cross Group and Ydris Group both on the list? The students from other schools are going to be so jealous!”
“Not just that! As far as I know, Cross Group has never collaborated with any school for internships. Our year is auspicious!”
“Do you realize how many PhDs and master’s graduates fight tooth and nail to enter Cross Group? And most of them still fail! This is huge!”

Laughter and teasing spread throughout the room as all eyes turned to the front row, where Charmaine sat.
Charmaine was silent.

The grade director chuckled and shook her head. Under normal circumstances, she would have reprimanded them for the noise, but this time …
