Though Emyr had mentioned before that they should turn their fake relationship into a real one, he had never made any further moves despite sharing a bed for so long.
By now, Charmaine had already grown accustomed to sleeping beside him. In the past, when she slept alone, she was a light sleeper, easily woken by the slightest noise in the middle of the night.
Having gotten used to sleeping beside him, she could sleep soundly through the night.
In fact, with the recent drop in temperature, she had even started sneaking her cold feet onto his side of the bed for warmth.
Not that he could feel it, of course–so he definitely didn’t know!
Once his legs healed, she wouldn’t have this little luxury anymore.
Now, with Emyr suddenly bringing up the topic, Charmaine couldn’t help but blush.
She muttered, “Of course, I didn’t forget.”
His intense gaze locked onto her, making her flustered and irritated. “Ugh, I remember, okay? We’ll talk about it later!”
With that, she huffed and stormed off to the bathroom.
Emyr watched as she fled, her face flushed with embarrassment. His expression finally softened, revealing a hint of satisfaction.
Basil had only allocated an afternoon for the appointment.
When Emyr and his team arrived at the heavily guarded residence, Freya had already been waiting at the entrance for quite some time.
The moment the familiar Maybach pulled up, Freya’s face lit up, and she rushed forward excitedly. “Emyr!”
But as soon as she spotted Charmaine stepping out of the car, her expression immediately darkened. She pointed at Charmaine, her tone laced with displeasure. “Why is she here?”
Emyr replied indifferently, “She has been assisting in my treatment for some time. If she speaks with Master Field, it will help him better understand my condition.”
Freya’s face flushed with anger, her voice hoarse with grievance. “Emyr! Have you forgotten that I’ve been monitoring your condition all along? Since you were injured, I’ve kept track of everything! I’ve worked tirelessly for you and gone through so much trouble to invite Master Field to treat you—and now you’re treating me like this? Do you have any idea how much that hurts?!”
Emyr’s lips pressed into a thin line, his handsome face darkening.

Looking at his resolute expression, she panicked.
“No, Emyr, don’t go! It took so much effort to get Master Field to agree–he’s waiting upstairs for you! Please don’t be mad at me. I was feeling a little hurt. Let’s not fight, okay? No matter what, your recovery is the most important thing right now.”
Emyr’s expression remained cold, unmoved by her pleading.
He despised being manipulated and disliked Freya’s habit of using her so–called ‘contributions‘ to act self- important.
Before, he had tolerated her tantrums, turning a blind eye.
But now that her hostility was directed at Charmaine, that he would not ignore.
Freya was truly afraid he would leave. She knew him too well–when he decided, he wouldn’t hesitate to follow through.
If he left now, everything she had endured–the humiliations, the efforts, and the endless work–would all be for nothing.
Desperate, she softened her tone, “I never meant to drive Charmaine away. Emyr, if you want to bring her inside, then bring her. I won’t say anything else.”
At last, Emyr finally gave her a glance.
Freya quickly seized the moment. “Let’s go in. It wouldn’t be right to keep Master Field waiting.”
Emyr gave a brief nod before agreeing to proceed.
Freya let out a sigh of relief but still shot Charmaine a resentful glare behind his back.
Charmaine, however, remained unfazed, following Emyr inside without a second thought.
A housekeeper approached and knocked on the door. Hearing a voice from within, she pushed it open slightly to ask permission to enter.
Freya quickly added, “Master Field is inside. He values his peace and quiet. Although he has agreed to treat the illness, he dislikes having too many unnecessary people around–it might upset him.”
She led them to the tea room on the lower floor, her tone deliberately measured, though internally, she was seething with frustration.
Because up until now, she hadn’t even had the chance to meet Master Field herself!
