Alfred knocked on the door and entered, noticing the rare smile on Emyr’s face, which caused his old to crinkle into crescent shapes.
Looking at the lively and confident Charmaine on the screen, Alfred felt comforted.
Ms. Nelson is a blessing for Mr. Emyr!
“Ahem, Mr. Emyr, the Nelsons would like to pay a visit
Emyr’s expression returned to its usual composure as he tapped his chin with his long fingers. “Have Charmaine come over.”

It was Leah’s first visit to the Crosses, and she was completely stunned by the extravagant scene before her.
She had always thought the Crosses were similar to the Nelsons, but now that she was here, she realized just how narrow–minded she had been!
Compared to the Crosses, the Nelsons could only be considered wealthy merchants, while the Crosses represented unimaginable riches!
“Jonah, is the Crosses really this wealthy?”
Jonah nodded. “The Crosses are, the leading family among the five prominent ones; the combined wealth of the other four doesn’t even come close.”
Leah was taken aback.
As the mechanical sounds drew nearer, she immediately put on her sweetest smile and turned her gaze toward the man in the wheelchair.
Even in their third meeting, she found herself mesmerized by Emyr’s striking appearance.
She instinctively tightened her grip.
A guy like him, even if I don’t want him, Charmaine is not good enough for him!
“Mr. Emyr.”
Jonah stepped forward, extending his hand in a gentlemanly manner.
But Emyr simply bypassed him and moved to the opposite side of the living room, putting distance between them.
Even seated in his wheelchair, he exuded an air of authority. “Can I help you?”
Jonah pulled back his hand, but didn’t seem bothered. I’m here to talk about a potential partnership with you, Mr. Emyr.”
“Partnership?” Emyr scoffed. “Are you sure this isn’t just something others have rejected that you’re trying to shove onto the Crosses?”

Charmaine happened to walk in through the side door just as she overheard their conversation.
Raising an eyebrow, she stopped walking and leaned against the wall, choosing not to enter.
After returning to the Nelsons in her previous life, she had Rex secretly help them clear many obstacles in their business. Within a year, the Nelsons had caught up with other big families.
As a result, the Nelsons became over–confident and arrogant.
Now, watching the formidable Emyr take on three of the Nelsons was quite amusing.
In the living room, Emyr openly pointed out their shortcomings, causing Jonah’s expression to darken.
Meanwhile, Milo clenched his fists, struggling to contain his emotions.
If it weren’t for Jonah’s repeated warnings not to act impulsively, he would have already lost his temper.
What’s there to be so arrogant about for a man in a wheelchair?
Although Leah looked down on the disabled Emyr, his handsome looks and unique elegance still made her heart race.
She found herself thinking that Emyr, even in a wheelchair, possessed more masculine charm than Jonah.
Who cares if we can’t get married? Having a guy like that obsessed with me isn’t so bad, right?

A little idea popped into her head. She stepped closer to Emyr, carrying a small basket.
Compared to her two brothers who showed their emotions openly, she seemed calmer. She had a sweet smile and her eyes were all sparkly as she looked at Emyr.
“I didn’t have the chance to properly thank you last night for coming to my birthday party and for such a generous gift. I made these matcha cookies myself. They’re just a small gesture, but I hope you’ll accept them, Mr. Emyr.”
As she spoke, she reached out her hand and bent down slightly. A pink diamond necklace slid out from her green dress. It hung there in a lovely curve.
Emyr looked at the woman before him, who was gazing at him intently, and asked, “You’re Leah Nelson.”
Leah’s eyes widened in surprise. “Yes, I’m.”
He remembers me?
Milo instinctively stepped in front of Leah, eyeing Emyr with suspicion. “Emyr, I warn you, don’t get any ideas about Leah.”
Watching Milo guard Leah like a beetle protecting its dung, Charmaine nearly laughed out loud.
She couldn’t help but wonder what kind of enchantment Leah had cast on Milo to make him so protective.
She glanced over at Emyr and found him staring at Milo with a dumbfounded expression, as if the very air around them had been tainted.
Charmaine couldn’t help but grin wider.

Leah secretly rolled her eyes at the interfering Milo and subtly inched closer to Emyr on the other side.
