Chapter 223 Be Prepared
Hearing Rex still muttering beside him, Micah
ouldn’t help but start doubting.
He had always assumed that anyone capable of working alongside Charmaine might not be as sharp as Charmaine herself, but at the very least, they shouldn’t be an idiot.
Yet, this renowned chairman of Ydris Group seemed dumb.
Inside the station, only the exhausted and grief–stricken family remained, along with Leah, who still bore a glaring red handprint on her face.
“Charmaine just walked away. You just let her go like that? What about Milo? My poor Milo–is he just supposed to lose his life for nothing?!”
Olympia, unable to endure the blow any longer, fainted on the spot.
“Mom!”
Leah immediately caught her collapsing mother, while Willard hurried to support his wife’s limp body.
Seeing this, Isaac had no choice but to remind them, “Mr. and Mrs. Nelson, based on our investigation of the accident scene, Mr. Milo’s incident appears to be an accident. Furthermore, Mr. Milo is still missing— there’s a chance he might have survived. Our police force will not give up. We will do everything we can to find him.”
Jonah’s face was grim with sorrow. “Thank you, Mr. Isaac.”
There was no point in staying any longer. Jonah and Zayn helped their parents and sister into the car and drove them home.
In the car, Olympia slowly regained consciousness.
The moment she opened her eyes, a throbbing pain settled behind them, as if they had been swollen from crying for too long. The sensation was painfully real, telling her that this wasn’t a nightmare.
Milo… had really gone missing!
Unknowingly, tears welled up again and streamed silently down her face.
Seeing her mother cry, Leah also broke down, sobbing, “Mom, please don’t cry! It hurts me so much to see
you
like this–Milo would be heartbroken too!”
When Olympia gave no reaction, Leah continued to console her as if comforting herself at the same time. “I already asked Daniel and Veronica to keep an eye out. Their family has connections in hospitals–if someone rescued Milo, they would definitely take him to a hospital. The moment there’s any news, they’ll let us know! And the Jameses‘ intelligence network reaches all over the world. I believe they’ll find Milo soon, safe and sound. We’ll be reunited again!”
From the side, Willard turned his gaze toward Leah, studying her carefully.
Leah continued speaking words of comfort to Olympia even when Olympia remained unresponsive.

Jonah put the car in park, and Zayn finally couldn’t hold back anymore. He reached over and gently turned on Leah’s hand. “Leah, that’s enough. Your voice is completely gone. You keep telling, Mom not to be sad because Milo would be heartbroken, but what about you? You’re hurting yourself too. You haven’t even treated the wound on your face. If Milo comes back and sees you like this, how devastated would he bee
Leah forced a weak smile at him. “I’m fine, Zayn. Besides, if Milo comes back safely, I will be fine even if he gets mad at me and refuses to acknowledge me as his sister anymore”
She murmured under her breath, “I’ll do anything to bring Milo back”
Zayn remained silent as he was unable to find the right words to respond.
Jonah unbuckled his seatbelt. “Let’s get out of the car. Give Mom and Dad some time to be alone.
Leah hesitated, but Zayn was firm, pulling her along.
After instructing the butler to escort Leah to her room for rest, Zayn let out a long, weary sigh.
Then he turned back toward the car, his expression darkening. Looking at his silent parents, he finally voiced what he had been afraid to say in front of his sister. “Jonah, do you think Milo is already…”
Jonah’s face was grim. He kept his voice low, “No matter what the possibilities are, we need to be prepared for…”
He couldn’t bring himself to finish the sentence outright.
He still held onto a sliver of hope, even though that hope was almost nonexistent.
“Leah’s right about one thing. We should keep an eye on the hospitals. Your connections there are stronger -pay close attention.”
Zayn nodded heavily. “I know.”
“I’ll also call the others back home. With Milo missing and Mom in such an unstable state, we need the whole family together. It’ll be better for everyone.”
Zayn agreed. “Yeah. Good idea.”
Inside the car, the silence stretched on.
After a long while, Willard finally moved, reaching out to pull Olympia into a comforting embrace.
His voice was softer now. With just the two of them left in the car, he no longer held up the dignity of a family patriarch. Instead, he allowed himself to be a husband seeking solace in his wife’s presence, exposing his own helplessness.
“Let’s not make things even harder for the kids.”
