“Leah, Daniel, if not for you, we truly wouldn’t know what to do!”

Daniel reassured her, “Mrs. Nelson, we’re all worried about Milo’s disappearance. Mr. Isaac is a reasonable man–I believe we’ll have good news soon.”
“That’s right, Mom. And I bear some responsibility for Milo going missing…”
Leah lowered her head, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. Her voice was filled with sorrow and helplessness. “At home, Milo and I have always been the closest but I never even realized he was secretly searching for that nurse from back then. If I had known earlier, I would have gone with him. With one more person, maybe he wouldn’t have…”
Her voice was choked by some deep emotion, making it impossible for her to continue.
“You silly child!”
Olympia’s heart ached for her. “Do you think I don’t know? Milo has been obsessed with Charmaine lately, and that has put distance between you two. Yet, instead of blaming him for neglecting you, you still only care about his well–being. When that fool comes back, I swear I’m going to teach him a lesson! He doesn’t even know who’s his family anymore!”
Hearing Charmaine’s name, Willard’s expression darkened instantly. His teeth clenched as he spat, “Maybe this will finally knock some sense into him. He’s been throwing his money at Charmaine like a pathetic dog wagging its tail for her, but for what? She won’t even lift a finger to help!”
Leah kept her head down sadly, but inside, she was overjoyed.
Daniel, however, frowned. “Maybe Charmaine truly doesn’t know anything about this. Her influence is limited–there’s not much she could do anyway.”
Hearing him speak up for Charmaine, Leah bit her lip hard.
Forcing a weak smile, she added, “Daniel’s right. Chara doesn’t have much say in anything … We can’t push her too hard to help find Milo.”
Willard’s face twisted with even more disgust. “A useless, greedy, and shameless woman like her knows nothing except for clinging to men like a parasite. Only an idiot like Milo would still trust her!”
Olympia sighed. “Forget Milo. He’s just too softhearted, which is why he fell for Charmaine’s tricks. But we have Leah helping us–Milo will surely come back safe and sound.”
Willard’s expression remained stormy, filled with anger and disdain.
Charmaine asked Celeste to help her take a leave of absence, then changed her destination with the ride- hailing driver and headed for a car dealership.
Half an hour later, a black Ferrari raced toward the neighboring county.
Rex clung to the handle above his seat like a man gripping onto a lifeline. His mouth was open, and the roaring wind rushed straight into it.

Dressed in all black, Charmaine remained completely unfazed. “If you want to go slow, get out and take a
cab.”
Rex looked at the cars being overtaken left and right and wailed, “No, no way–no other car can keep up with you!”
Charmaine’s eyes darkened. “Then shut up and hold on!”
The moment she finished speaking, she floored the gas pedal, pushing the car to its top speed. Rex immediately curled up like a quail, gripping his seat for dear life, too terrified to utter another word.
An hour and a half later, Charmaine pulled up at a toll station.
Rolling down the window, her pale yet strikingly defined face came into view. Her profile was flawless.
The female toll collector stared at her. She was completely mesmerized and a slight blush crept onto her cheeks.
After paying the toll, Charmaine suddenly remembered something. She turned to the collector with a faint smile. “Were you on duty last night?”
The woman blinked in surprise, then quickly covered her face shyly. “Oh no… do I really look that exhausted?”
Charmaine chuckled. “You’re very pretty. I just saw the shift schedule inside the booth.”
The collector glanced at the schedule and immediately relaxed. “Oh, I see! Yes, I was on duty last night.”
Charmaine nodded, swiping through her phone before showing the woman a photo of Milo. “Did this man come through around midnight? He was driving a Porsche.”
The woman’s eyes widened in recognition. “Yes! I remember him!”
“He asked us for directions to Mount Viper last night. That mountain is tricky with lots of sharp turns, and narrow roads. And there was heavy fog, too. We told him it’d be safer to go up in daylight, but I don’t know if he listened.”
Charmaine’s gaze darkened.
After thanking the woman, she stepped on the gas and sped off.
At the same time, the Nelsons also received word from Isaac. They had tracked Milo’s last known location and were now en route from Eragos.
