Willard’s expression darkened. Apollo Hotel was one of the most prestigious business venues in Eragos, a place where many powerful figures conducted their deals.
It wouldn’t be surprising if they ran into acquaintances the moment they stepped out of the car.
If any of his business partners saw them arriving with someone dressed like Charmaine, that would be an absolute disgrace to the Nelsons.
Willard instructed the driver coldly, “Circle around once before stopping.”
Leah, who was in the same car, clung to Olympia’s arm and whispered, “Chara dressed like that–do you think they’ll even let her inside the hotel? Maybe I should go get her?”
“If she can’t get in, then let her stand there and wait! She has no shame, but does she really think she can drag us down with her?” Olympia sneered.
Leah’s lips curved into a faint smile.
Just then, the driver let out a surprised noise. “Oh–Ms. Chara just went inside…
The people in the car immediately turned to look.
They saw the hotel’s lobby manager stride out with a beaming smile and personally welcome Charmaine. Not only did he not stop her at the entrance, but he also led her inside with the utmost respect.
The Nelsons sat in stunned silence as they watched Charmaine enter the VIP elevator.
The driver hesitated before asking. “Ms. Chara has already gone in. Should we still circle around?”
Willard’s expression was like thunder. “Stop here.”
Leah forced an awkward smile and tried to smooth things over. “Maybe it’s because of Mr. Emyr. Even though Chara is technically the Crosses‘ maid, everyone knows how much Mr. Emyr favors her now….
Olympia scoffed, her voice dripping with disdain. “If all maids lived like her, there wouldn’t be many left doing actual work.”
Willard was already irritated. “Enough. Don’t say anything unnecessary after we get out.”
Some things were best kept behind closed doors.
Inside the VIP elevator.
The manager remained exceedingly polite as he asked Ms. Chara, your private suite has been reserved. for your per Mr. Chapman’s instructions. Would you like to go there now?”
Charmaine replied calmly. “It’s fine. I’m here for dinner
“Which room should I bill to your account?”
She shot him a glance. “Why would I pay? I barely know them.”

By the time Charmaine arrived at the private dining room, Jonah, Milo, and Zayn–who had just returned to the country–were already waiting inside.
As soon as the waiter opened the door, Charmaine strolled in lazily. Milo, who had been fiddling with his phone, immediately jumped up. “Charmaine! Why didn’t you reply to my messages? I was going to come down and wait for you!”
Charmaine responded flatly, “I blocked you.”
Both Jonah and Zayn turned to look at her.
Jonah remained composed, but Zayn–who was seeing Charmaine for the first time in years–was visibly taken aback.
Back when Charmaine was first brought home, Zayn had only met her once before leaving the country for his research.
He never paid much attention to anything outside of as work. The only family member he had any real attachment to was Leah, the younger sister who had grown up with him.
As for Charmaine, she was just a stranger bound to him by blood.
His only impression of her was that she had been timid, weak, and utterly insignificant. Not to mention, she had once tried to sabotage his research notes.
However, the woman in front of him now seemed different
Zayn raised an eyebrow. He knew Milo’s temper well and yet Charmaine had just spoken so bluntly- wasn’t she afraid of being scolded?
However, instead of the outburst he expected, Milo simply grinned like a fool.
As if being ignored by Charmaine was something he had already gotten used to, he even took it upon himself to find a solution. “You blocked my number? That’s okay! I still have three other SIM cards. I’ll just call you from a different one next time!”
Charmaine and Jonah were at a loss for words.
Zayn, still in disbelief, took off his glasses, wiped the lenses, and put them back on. Then he looked again.
No, he wasn’t hallucinating. He turned to Jonah and asked, “Are we sure this is still Milo? Or did someone swap him out?”
