Chapter 199 Everything Clicks
Charmaine barely believed him this time.
While Emyr was undergoing his treatment, Charmaine opened the meal he had brought back.
“Wow, it smells so good!” she exclaimed.
She searched around for a moment. “Where is the wine from last time?”

Emyr’s voice was deep and filled with meaning. “What’s the matter? You want to get drunk and harass me again?”
Charmaine went silent.
His words immediately brought to mind those memories she had intentionally buried but were now becoming clearer.
Under his sharp gaze, Charmaine flushed deeply. “I’ll ge heat it up downstairs first!” she said hurriedly and quickly ran off.
Emyr watched her retreating figure, his lips slowly curling into a faint smile.
Charmaine ran so quickly that she didn’t even notice the needle kit falling to the floor.
Emyr bent down to pick it up, but as he did so, he quickly felt a weight press against the front of his thighs.
The man froze, staring at his legs in disbelief, unable to move for a long time.
As the saying goes, people will kick you when you’re down.
Bennett had once thought he still had time to fight, that if he could just hold on a little longer, new opportunities would come. But, to his shock, no one was offering him a chance.
After the scandal leaked, he couldn’t secure new partnerships, and almost all existing deals were put on hold. Even worse, his products were randomly chosen for inspection and failed the quality tests.
Bennett was stunned. He begged for a reassessment but was met with rejection at every turn.
Internally, the company was in chaos. Employees and key staff were resigning, and most of the major projects were either shelved or lacked anyone to manage them.
The debts piled up too. Debt collectors barged into his house and moved in. They scared both Bennett and Sophie to the point they couldn’t sleep peacefully anymore.
Just when Bennett thought things couldn’t get worse, he received a notice about an emergency shareholders‘ meeting.
He immediately called his secretary. “What shareholders meeting? I’m the largest shareholder, and I didn’t authorize any meeting. Who’s behind this?”

Furious, Bennett scolded the secretary before storming into the meeting room.

With a loud crash, he flung open the door. The room was empty, except for a janitor hunched over in th
corner.
Bennett’s eyes narrowed as he surveyed the empty room before sitting in the main chair.
“You! Go get me some tea,” he ordered the janitor.
He nodded and returned a few minutes later with a plastic cup filled with yellowish tea.
Bennett grimaced in disdain and reached for it.
But the moment his fingers brushed it, the plastic softened under the heat, and the tea spilled, burning h hand.
Enraged, he splashed the hot tea onto the janitor, using that poor woman as an outlet for his anger.
“You fool! Can’t do anything right, can you? I paid so much for you to do your job, and you can’t even make tea properly!
“You deserve to clean trash for your whole life. People like you, brainless, are doomed to live as the- poorest of the poor your whole life!”
“Ah!”
The janitor cried out in pain and jumped back several steps, unable to lift his head as Bennett continued t berate him.
“Mr. Read had good spirit, came a voice from the door.
Charmaine stepped into the room, just in time to witness Bennett’s outburst. Her eyes flickered with a brief gleam, and a slight smile tugged at her lips.
Bennett froze, his eyes wide with disbelief as he looked at Charmaine, who was casually dressed but radiated an undeniable beauty.
“What are you doing here?” he demanded.
Charmaine didn’t respond immediately but instead walked to the opposite side of the long table and sat down.
Behind her, the lawyer unrolled a stack of documents and placed them in front of Bennett.
Bennett’s eyes widened in shock as he glanced at the papers.
“Did those fools sell off all of my company’s shares?!”
To his utter amazement, Charmaine was the one who had bought them all.
Even more shocking was that Charmaine had called this shareholders‘ meeting.
A chill crept down Bennett’s spine, his back suddenly feeling the weight of an invisible pressure.
