Charmaine widened her eyes in disbelief, slapping herself on the face in shock.
Everyone was speechless too.
Wasn’t Charmaine working as a maid at the Crosses?
But with all this grandeur, it seemed like she was the lady of the house.

Celeste immediately caught on and exclaimed, “Wow! Charmaine, the way you come home is super impressive!”
Alfred smiled kindly, and she was clearly at ease with her response. “Please come in, everyone. It’s dinner time. What would you like to eat? Our kitchen can prepare anything.”
Celeste, ever quick with her words, asked, “Really anything? I’m suddenly craving some wagyu beef and king crab!”
“We can do that. I’ll arrange it for Ms. Wheeler.”
Celeste looked surprised. “Wow, you know my name?”
Alfred chuckled and said, “Ms. Nelson brought her classmates here for the first time, so I had to make sure everything was perfect. Ms. Wheeler loves seafood, and this must be Ms. Pierce. You’re from Ylathe and like bold flavors. And Ms. Trivett, I hear you’re not feeling well, so we’ll make sure to serve lighter dishes.”
Alfred named several of their preferences, and all of them were spot on.
“Impressive! Is this how top–tier families treat their guests? This level of attention is unbelievable!”
“But the real question isn’t about the guests–it’s all about Charmaine. How can a maid bring friends over and get treated like royalty?”
“Yeah, this is more impressive than the three houses we went to just now.”
Some even let their curiosity slip, asking, “Is Charmaine really just a maid here? Not the mistress of the house?”
Celeste laughed even more brilliantly than Charmaine. She praised, “Not bad, you’re a lot smarter than Veronica.”
Veronica’s face darkened, twisted by jealousy.
Leah, who had hoped to see Charmaine make a fool of herself, was no better off.
She clung to the last shred of hope, convinced this must all be a ruse–Charmaine had surely teamed up with the staff to stage this for their benefit.
Charmaine sighed and rubbed her forehead. “Let’s focus on finishing the task.”
Alfred said, “Everything has been arranged according to Ms. Nelson’s instructions.”
Charmaine felt a bit more at ease with his assurance.

“Wow, Charmaine, your closet is twice the size of Leah’s!”
“And it’s filled with classic items from luxury brands, with a lot of high–end collections.”

“The best part? These are all new clothes with tags still on! Not only have they never been worn, but they’re all this year’s latest designs!”
“LK! This whole cabinet is full of LK! This quantity … it’s like you have 70% to 80% of LK’s collection! No store in the world has this much in stock!”
“Mr. Emyr is the perfect boyfriend! Charmaine, you’re so lucky!”
“Of course you wouldn’t want to go home. Why bother going home when Mr. Emyr’s place is so much more appealing!”
Leah was shocked.
Completely outdone, Leah’s eyes burned with frustration. These poor opportunists were so clueless!
Bunch of idiots! How could they not see this was all staged?
Charmaine’s reputation was in tatters–everyone in Eragos knew about her messy past in South Aspus.
Was Emyr really interested in her and treating her this well?
Any normal man would never tolerate such an insult.
Leah finally spoke, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “These aren’t your usual clothes, are they, Charmaine? We’re here for charity, not to show off. Isn’t this a bit too much?”
Celeste immediately fired back, “Oh, I wonder who was showing off just now. When someone realizes she can’t compete, she starts criticizing, huh? How shameless.”
Leah clenched her fists silently.
Charmaine gave her a side glance before turning to Alfred.
Alfred swiftly stated, “We’ve brought some of Ms. Nelson’s old clothes here.”
He pulled out a rectangular basket from the corner, revealing a collection of plain, ordinary clothes.
Among the luxury items, they looked almost embarrassingly humble.
Leah took a quick look–those were definitely clothes Charmaine had worn before.
