Chapter 176 I Should Accept His Kindness for Now
She did not prepare for this. Sylvia was not at home either.

After a few rings, the call connected. Emyr’s groggy voice could be heard at the other end as if he had just woken up from a deep sleep. He asked in an uncertain tone, “Charmaine?”
Charmaine let out a soft hum and said, “It’s me…”

Emyr could sense the weakness in her voice. “Where are you now? When did you go out?”
“I didn’t go out …
Ugh!”
Suddenly, Charmaine felt a sharp pain and let out a small groan.
Emyr did not wait for her to finish speaking. He quickly hung up the phone.
Shortly after, Charmaine heard the sound of her bedroom door being pushed open. Emyr was panting hard as he called out, “Charmaine!”
“I’m here…”
She answered softly, and the next second, Emyr actually pushed the door open with hesitation.
Their eyes met, and Charmaine stared at Emyr in disbelief. She watched Emyr’s concerned look turn into a panicked one, and finally, he awkwardly retreated and closed the door.
He closed the door with a loud slam. Charmaine was worried that the door was going to break.
It seemed that Emyr was gathering himself outside the washroom. Finally, he spoke, “Which part is hurting? Do you have a stomach ache now?”
“My period came early. Since I got caught in the rain, it feels terrible … ”
“I’ll have Tad send you to the hospital.”
“Come back here. I just need your help,” Charmaine shouted urgently.
“I’ve bought some sanitary pads online. Can you help me get them at the door?”
There was no sound for some time. Charmaine muttered to herself, “I know this is a ridiculous request for you, Mr. Emyr. I would have gone and gotten it myself if I weren’t so uncomfortable right now. I think it’s all because of the fatigue and the rain this morning…”
“Has the delivery arrived?”
Emyr’s hoarse voice broke the silence outside the door.
Charmaine’s lips curled up as she checked her phone. “It’s a few yards away. It almost reaches the door.”
“I’ll get it for you.”

In response to Charmaine’s flattery, a mechanical and indifferent sound of wheelchair rolling sounded outside the door.
After some time, Emyr finally returned.
“I’ll leave it here. Come get it yourself.”
“I’ll make a mess of myself if I get up now… Can you shove that thing in through a small opening?”
There was silence once again.
Just when Charmaine thought that Satan had given up on her, the door opened a crack.
A bony hand, holding a sanitary pad, reached in through the crack.
Through the crack, Charmaine could see that he was maintaining this posture while facing away from the crack. He was in his wheelchair with his arms stretched out.
“Can you take it now?”
Charmaine snapped out of her stupor and told him, “A little to the left.”
The big hand slightly shifted to the left.
Charmaine finally reached out and took it. She thanked him, “Thank you.”
“Women are troublesome creatures.”
After muttering, he slammed the door shut once again.
Although he had a bad temper, he was not an unfeeling person.
Charmaine quickly tidied herself up and hurried to bed. She hid under the covers.
She had to make herself warm so that she would not feel so terrible in the next few hours.
As she tried to ease her discomfort by massing her head, the door was pushed open abruptly.
Charmaine was surprised. “Mr. Emyr?”
Emyr had a dark look on his face as he brought a thermos flash to her. He said, “I read online that women should drink more hot water during this time.”
Well, I should accept his kindness for now.
Charmaine opened the flash and took a few mouthfuls of water. While she did that, Emyr was staring at her with a deathly gaze.
Although she felt much warmer, her face was still pale.
Emyr frowned. “Doesn’t hot water help?”

“I’ll ask Sylvia to come back.”
“Don’t do that. Even if she comes back, it will still not change the fact that I’m uncomfortable. I’m just not that healthy in the first place.”
“So what are you going to do now?”
