Chapter 174 He’s Just Criticizing Me

After some time, Flory came out with two talismans in his hands and said, “Find a way to get the girl’s personal belongings and put them together with these talismans next to Leah’s waist. These have the power to calm things down for a while.”
Sophie took the talismans hurriedly.
However, she was not satisfied just yet. She bombarded Flory with more questions, “How long will these last? What about in the far future?”
Flory stared at her with a deadpan look on his face, but there was a terrifying and eerie darkness gathering in his eyes.
“Charmaine has a prosperous life ahead of her, so just replacing the kidneys is not enough … If you want Leah to resolve this once and for all, take Charmaine’s blood from her heart and bury it with Leah’s hair on top of the highest mountain in Eragos. That way, Leah will completely take over Charmaine’s life!”
The next morning, Charmaine was awakened by the heavy rain outside her house.
The sky was a grayish blue, and it stretched on infinitely. She checked the clock and saw that it was already eight o’clock.
She quickly washed up and went downstairs, only to find Emyr and the others seated at the dining table. She was the only one left as everyone was waiting for her.
“I’m sorry. I’ve overslept.”
Merrick emerged from the kitchen and placed a bowl of porridge on the table. He said, “You’re not late. You’re right on time.”
Sylvia smiled warmly and said, “I was just about to go upstairs. Sit down and let’s have breakfast together.”
“Alright.”
Charmaine sat down next to Emyr. Unexpectedly, he was dressed in a white suit with a black handkerchief protruding out from his chest pocket.
Emyr saw Charmaine staring at him. His eyes twitched slightly as he spoke, “We are taking the mountain path today, so, eat more.”
Charmaine blinked at him and replied, “Okay.”
Sylvia watched their interaction and could not help but laugh. “It seems like Emyr knows how to care for
someone now.”
Emyr snorted coldly. “I’m just afraid that she’ll slow us down.”
Charmaine shook her head and said, “Mr. Emyr, you have nothing to worry about. I’m always ranked high when it comes to school physical tests. We are just climbing a mountain. I’ll be fine!”
Emyr shot a look at her and snorted again.

She did have good stamina…
However, she did not know beforehand that she had to carry the sacrificial items up the mountain!
Tad carried the same weight too, but he was able to hike briskly and in no time, he was out of sight.
Charmaine pressed on her knees as she gasped for breath.
Emyr was right behind her. His high–tech wheelchair gracefully scaled the inclined terrain.

He easily passed by Charmaine. He did not forget to show some concern as he said, “How are you feeling? I thought you’re ranked highly in physical tests.”
… I’m fine! I can do this!” She pumped her fists and began to trudge along once again.
However, she did not last long as she came to a stop after only a few steps.
Sylvia and Merrick both had hiking poles. They said, “Charmaine, take a rest. Let us carry those.”
Charmaine immediately straightened her back and started hiking again upon hearing that. “No need, I can do this myself. Both of you, take your time. I’ll go up first!”
After saying that, she quickened her pace and surpassed them.
Sylvia and Merrick looked at each other and smiled wryly.
“Emyr, is this too tiring for Charmaine?”
“She’ll be fine. She’ll reach the peak in no time.”
“If you say so…
”
Charmaine was able to reach the peak of the mountain after expending the last of her stamina.
When she saw the view from the peak, she finally understood why Emyr’s parents would choose this location for their graves…
True to its name, Sunnyshore was surrounded by rolling mountains. From the top of the mountain, one could see the distant sea.
It was almost noon now, and the rain was coming to a halt. Warm sunlight showered the terrain, casting a refreshing light on the vast blue sea. It was a relaxing atmosphere.
Charmaine took in the atmosphere for a moment before her peace was interrupted by the noise of Emyr and the others.
“Charmaine, thank you for your hard work. It’s tiring, right?”
Sylvia sounded very grateful for Charmaine as she handed Tad and her a bottle of water. She said, “Get some rest now. Let us clean up the tomb.”
It had been some time since anyone was here. There was lush foliage growing around the tombs, which made it look messy.
Charmaine nodded in agreement. Indeed, she was quite tired. She sat down on a huge rock next to Tad.

Emyr came over and gave her a towel.
“You’re sweating all over. Wipe yourself off,” he said.
Charmaine felt her skin and replied, “This is not my sweat. It’s rainwater.”
Emyr tossed the towel at her lap and complained, “Still, you stink.”

This Satan is foul–mouthed!
Tad commented, “Mr. Emyr seems cold on the outside, but he cares for you, Ms. Nelson.”
Charmaine wiped off her moist skin and said in irritation, “I think he’s just seizing the opportunity to
criticize me.”
