Back to My Worst Birthday and Starting Anew
Chapter 111 Fake Little B*tch
Finished
In this moment, one claimed they wanted to keep her company, while the other was eager to form an alliance. How ironic.
A mocking smile appeared on Charmaine’s face, her amusement clear as she didn’t try to hide it.
In response, both Milo and Celeste showed surprise, mixed with a touch of disdain at each other’s words.
They harrumphed, their eyes fixed on Charmaine, but instead of feeling the tension between them, Charmaine sat undisturbed.
A thought crossed her mind, and a subtle smile tugged at her lips, softening the coolness of her expression.
“Mr. Milo,” she began, her voice light. “Did you pass the message I gave you to Mr. Jonah?”
Milo snapped out of his trance. “I haven’t had the chance to speak with him yet.”
Charmaine nodded understandingly, her tone casual as she added, “I see. It’s only natural that you wouldn’t believe me, Mr. Milo.”
Milo quickly defended himself. “It’s not that I don’t believe you … It’s just, something happened after I got back last night…
His voice trailed off as he lowered it.
The night before, Leah had cried for hours, begging him for help, and in that moment, he had been so caught up in her distress that he’d completely forgotten about Charmaine’s request.
Now, faced with Charmaine’s composed demeanor, Milo felt a stab of guilt.
After all, he’d been sympathetic toward Leah, agreeing to keep her secret, and both were his sisters.
He didn’t want to see Leah hurt, but he also felt conflicted, especially when it came to Charmaine.
He admitted that he’d been too quick to judge Charmaine and had said hurtful things in the past. Now that he realized his mistake, he wanted to make things right.
As for the issues involving the Reads, he didn’t want to escalate the situation any further, especially considering how it could make Leah’s life more difficult.
Noticing Milo lost in thought, Charmaine tapped the table to get his attention. “Since you say you believe me, shouldn’t you act on it?”
Milo’s eyes lit up as though he had just understood her point.
“Of course I believe you. So, if I go tell Jonah about this, will you forgive me and leave the past behind?”
Charmaine paused before letting a knowing smile spread across her face. “How you interpret this is up to you.”
Milo, taking this as an unspoken approval, suddenly stood up with determination, making Celeste beside him almost lose her balance.
“I’m going to the company to find Jonah right now!” he declared, full of purpose.

Charmaine reminded him gently, “Your plate.”
Finished
Milo had already taken a few steps toward the exit before he turned back to grab his things in a rush, leaving the cafeteria without another word.
Celeste watched him go, her jaw hanging open in disbelief.
After a long moment, she snapped out of her daze and turned to Charmaine. “You’re really that easy to convince?”
Celeste, having heard about Charmaine’s fussy character from Leah, now found herself almost feeling sorry for her.
She couldn’t believe how manipulative Leah had been. The unjust accusations, the kind no one could defend against … Celeste couldn’t imagine how painful it must’ve been for Charmaine, especially considering the betrayal by her own family.
Thinking back to Leah’s birthday party, when Milo had so cruelly scolded Charmaine, treating her as if she didn’t matter at all, Celeste was astounded that Charmaine could just let it all go.
Charmaine leaned back in her chair, wearing an almost indifferent expression. “Did I actually say yes to him?” she asked with a soft laugh.
Celeste’s eyes widened in realization.
“I knew it! If you just forgave him like that, I would’ve lost respect for you.”
Charmaine’s reply was casual, as always. “When have you ever respected me?”
With Milo gone, Celeste was left feeling embarrassed.
She thought back to how Leah had used her to target Charmaine, doing all sorts of foolish things. Just remembering it made her want to bang her head against a wall.
Humiliation burned in her chest, but anger soon followed. “Who would’ve thought that fake little b*tch could act so well? I got played by her!”
Charmaine raised an eyebrow, amused. “I thought you weren’t afraid of her.”
Mentioning Leah caused Celeste’s temper to flare. “I don’t know what kind of plans she and Veronica have, but my parents even warned me not to cause trouble with Veronica. They told me, even if we can’t be friends, I shouldn’t offend her … It’s maddening!”
