Chapter 110 The Irony
Celeste’s finger pointed directly at Leah, sitting diagonally across from her.

Milo scoffed, “Celeste, you’ve really gone all in, haven’t you? I’m actually curious–what did Charmaine ever do to you that makes you so obsessed with her?”
Celeste shot back with a mocking laugh, “Milo, you’re hilarious. Aren’t you the one who never stops talking about Leah? Now, instead of trailing after her like a loyal puppy, you’re following Charmaine. What’s the deal? Did you finally see–through your sweet little sister and start regretting it?”
Milo clenched his fists, his frustration clear. “Shut up! You’re the one always making trouble for Charmaine, stealing her stuff, and accusing her of things. And now you’re acting like the moral authority? Don’t make me laugh!”
Celeste raised an eyebrow. “Oh, really, Milo? Didn’t you pressure Charmaine to donate a kidney to your precious sister, using her like a tool for your own selfish needs? And now you want to act like some kind of saint? You’re nothing but a hypocrite–always pretending to be something you’re not!”
Milo struggled to find words, his face flushed. “Mind your own business, Celeste!”
“Idi*t, who do you think you’re talking to?” Celeste shot back without hesitation.
The tension between them was palpable. Charmaine watched the argument unfold, both Milo and Celeste red–faced and shouting. The spectacle was almost comical, and for some reason, the food in Charmaine’s plate suddenly seemed more appealing.
She almost felt like getting another serving.
Nearby, Leah watched with growing discomfort. Milo and Celeste, usually focused on her, were now locked in a fierce rivalry with each other, and Charmaine was right at the center of it.
The spotlight had shifted away from Leah. Charmaine was now the one everyone was focused on.
Leah could feel it–a change in the air. Milo, once her constant companion, wasn’t hovering around her anymore. And Celeste, her supposed best friend, was now fixated on Charmaine.
“Leah, do you think Celeste and Charmaine might team up to take us down?” Veronica asked with a worried look, her voice tinged with bitterness.
Veronica, once quiet and reserved, had become a different person.
She had tasted the privileges that came with being in the spotlight, and now she was unwilling to let go.
Her new life, full of opportunities and attention, was something she refused to let anyone take away.
Leah raised an eyebrow at Veronica’s sudden change.
She hadn’t expected the usually timid girl to become so bold and hungry for power, especially when it came to keeping her place in the social hierarchy.
So it turned out that she wasn’t a pushover–she just hadn’t had the opportunity to get what she truly
wanted.
Leah brushed off Veronica’s concerns, her voice dismissive. “What’s there to be afraid of? Celeste can’t really

Veronica responded almost automatically, “Who says I’m worried? My parents always told me to treat Charmaine with respect because of the Reads, but now I’ve got Mr. Emyr. Why should I care about her anymore?”
Leah’s eyes narrowed with interest. “How was your first date with Mr. Emyr last night?”
Veronica’s face lit up with a grin. “Mr. Emyr rented out the entire revolving restaurant for just the two of us. I never imagined he could be so romantic under that cold exterior.”
Leah’s chest tightened with jealousy as she watched Veronica gush.
Sure, Leah and Daniel had always been the golden couple, but compared to the Crosses, a family of enormous wealth and influence, the Quinns from Eragos barely registered.
Even if Emyr was stuck in a wheelchair, his status as part of the powerful Cross family made him a catch.
Leah hated seeing Charmaine outshine her, but what infuriated her more was watching Veronica bask in that same spotlight.
Who does Veronica think she is, really? Leah thought bitterly. “If it weren’t for me, would she even have this life?
Her smile remained, but inside, she cursed Veronica with every ounce of her being. “Congratulations, Veronica. Seeing you so happy puts my mind at ease.”
Veronica puffed her chest out proudly. “Don’t worry, Leah. Once I marry Mr. Emyr and become the lady of the Crosses, I won’t forget you.”
Leah forced a smile, though inside, she wanted to lash out.
After finishing her meal, Charmaine was about to clear her plate and leave when Milo and Celeste stopped
her.
Her brow furrowed, annoyance creeping in. “What do you want?”
Milo shrugged nonchalantly. “Just thought I’d keep you company.”
Celeste leaned in with a sly grin. “I want to work with you, Charmaine!”
Both of them paused for a moment, then, in unison, they shouted in disbelief, “Who would believe lies?”
your
“Stop dreaming!”
Charmaine studied them, a wry smile tugging at her lips. She found the entire situation rather amusing.
Not too long ago, these two had either been enraged by her presence or completely ignored her.
